  • Medium garnet color. Dried flower, prune, sour cherry, mushroom, earthy. Medium body, refreshing with soft tannin. A wine with good clarity on palate. Quite long. Very enjoyable. Best with lots of slow ox.

  • Brunello Night (Extra Space): Tasted blind.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour with garnet rim. Legs.
Nose medium+ intensity, with aromas of slight barnyard, bright red cherries, spices, tobacco. Developed.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%), grippy high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of lovely red cherries, spice, tobacco, leather. Long finish.
Outstanding quality Rosso which is on the level of a Brunello. From the horrid 2008 vintage no less! My gosh! Tasted blind, no one said this was not a Brunello. My tasting note doesn't sugest lots of depth or complexity, but this is really good and stands out in terms of the balance. Drink up and enjoy.

  • In many ways this was the wine of the night, not least because of its lovely drinkability and elegance. Tasted blind, we guessed it was a brunello, not a rosso. The nose was already well developed with great complexity and notes of spicebox, balsamico, tobacco, tea, gravel and hiprose besides the red cherry and plum. Tastewise it was extremely well balanced between minerality, structure, spice and charming fruit that is in no way too extracted - and oak isn't a problem at all. A real beauty, this is the kind of wine that will take Montalcino back on track as one of Italy's most interesting appellations.

  • My impression of this beauty concurs with Uffo2 and NicolaiS's notes.

  • Highly enjoyable - very elegant and fruitdriven. Red sangiovese - just the way I like it. Not a big structured wine but the elegance fully makes up for it.
