  Over the hill. A dark nose, coke and licorice dominate it. Some walnuts. Mellowing but still powerful, full-bodied, massive tannins make it rustic. Drink up ASAP.

  Vegetal nose at first, but much more interesting palate. Opened up quickly to ephemeral cherry, anise, and glove. Pleasant drinking. Possibly past peak.

  Tasted blind. Currant aromas, a little exotic, iron, plum. Highly structured, a bit stern but I like it. Cola notes emerge in the mid palate. Herbal finish. There is definitely an Italian vibe here, either Tuscany or Campania.
