Frey's Cat Ranch (Somewhere in the Northern Burbs, MN): Very dark red/purple color with a youthful purple hue. Slow O for an hour. Drank a small glass over an hour. I can't say I've had the regular Montelena CAb in years. This was nice representation of Napa. Building purity and pretty cassis notes in the glass over an hour after it starts off with some young green notes; ripe, full bodied, really soft and round tannins, red berries, with nice oak. This was approachable and quite good for its age.

Beautiful color deep purple hues. Nose of dark fruit, black cherry, Sage, sweet tobacco, leather. Youthful acidity and medium to heavy tannins provides a nice structure with a lingering finish.
An excellent CA cab, drinking well now. While it is age worthy for several years, I do not believe it is necessary, and that is likely not the intention of the vintner. It is a classic CA cab that hits all the basic notes without being too hot or bright; it works well now, particularly after a decant. A great value.

Continues to be one of my favorite Cabernet's, especially with dinner guests!
