Fresh, fragrant blueberry, a hint of green tomato, and cedar pencil box on the nose. Opaque, dense coloration with a slim band of brick red orange at the rim. Surprisingly medium-heavy mouthfeel, firm acidity, and gentle tannins, with racy blue-black fruit, more brilliant than opulently luscious, with a pleasing streak of mintiness complimenting the beautiful fruit. We are looking forward to having this wine with grilled steak, although it is extremely difficult setting it aside for dinner. Bought in Maine for $34.99 at a now non-existent store, The Cork and Barrel. The finish is redolent of unadulterated blueberry compote. This wine is a beautiful time capsule capturing the vintage and Calistoga terroir. Another bonus is the 14.1% alcohol level. Older wines have many stories to tell.

A bit flat with fruit muted and lacking distinguishing characteristics.

Decanted. Took a couple of hours to develop. Lots of mineral structure--a bit lean but very nice.

Floral nose of lilacs and redolent red fruit.
Fine and well integrated tannins. Nice grip on the palate with a long finish.
