2014 Château Lafon-Rochet
5/12/2024 - ChristoBretts Likes this wine: 92 Points
Decanted and drank over three days. Black and blue fruit on the nose and palate. Wet pavement, cut brick. Tannin still a bit lively. Another nice 2014 that is coming into it's own, slowly. I love the fact that the didn't oak it into submission. Good now, but will definitely be better in a year or so and I will try to wait to pop another until then.

2010 Château d'Armailhac

Decanted and drank over two days. Medium to heavy body, minimal bricking at the rim. Fruit, tar and cigar on the nose, similar on the palate along with a good dose of anise, particularly on day-1. Integrated tannin and medium acidity but plenty of backbone to drive the highly pleasing and nuanced Pauillac finish. Seemed best on day-1 after 3-4 hours of air, still good on day-2, but less nuanced. I agree with others on this - in a wonderful spot now but no hurry.

2022 Trader Joe's Pinot Noir Grand Reserve Lot # 23 Carneros
4/13/2024 - ChristoBretts Likes this wine: 90 Points
A Trader Joes purchase. PnP. Classic Pinot on the nose and palate. Could age a bit more, perhaps a year, but even now it is good to go. Solid Pinot fruit, not sweet, enough intensity to enjoy on its own. A very good QPR if you are looking for an every day pinot. Obviously there are better Pinot Noir, particularly at twice the price. At $13, difficult to beat.
