  • 2009 Château Desmirail

    No good.
    Low acidity
    Soft tannins
    Plushie, watery texture
    "Shy" flavors
    Short finish.
But there's something very positive - fantastic smell.
Sweet red and black cherry, earth, flowers, vanilla, milk chocolate, mint, tea, cassis and kirsch liquor.
I have a feeling like the wine is hollow, shallow and with a big hole inside its structure.
Unfortunately we don't have to smell, but we have to drink wine.
Chateau Desmirail is 3rd Growth Cru Classé in 1855 Classification.
2009 was a great vintage and ,according to the WA Vintage Guide, got 97 points in Margeaux!
    Wine?
    Vinous - 94 (!?)
    WS - 91
    IWC - 90
    Jeff Leve - 89
    Jean-Marc Quarin - 87
    RP - 87
    Decanter - 86
The second day of drinking and the wine improved in the taste. More structure, more taste. Milky texture with nice coffee and milk chocolate.
    Longer finish.
I have no choice, but to upgrade it from 86 to 88 points.

    ...

I like this kind of surprise.
    Wine adventure is unpredictable.
And this is one more reason to drink it 🍷

  • 1995 Marqués de Murrieta Rioja Ygay Reserva

One of the best aromas I have ever seen in my wine "career"
Not too complicated, but very strong and well defined aromas of red and black cherry, plum, figs, raisins, tobacco and milk chocolate.
    Taste? Love-hate relationship.
One sip is full of juicy red cherry, strawberry, and red currant. The next sip is full of acidity and black pepper. Definitely the wine is over the top.
Big disappointment after wonderful, ageless smell.

  • 2015 Mas Doix Priorat Salanques

One of the best producers in Priorat, very good vintage - 92 points (Outstanding. Early maturing and accessible), Priorat is Priorat.
    Let's see.
    2 hours in the decanter.
Lovely, lovely aromas! Strong smell of cassis! What else? Vanilla, minerals, herbs, graphite, smoke, blueberry.
Taste? Big disappointment. Watery texture, diluted flavors. Big contrast between top notch aromas and so-so flavors. A lot of red cherries and herbs. Red currant, raspberry, orange. All of it would be great, but it's weak and chaotic.
Soft acidity and tannins. No - name finish.
I don't know why this wine is "no- name" wine, but I feel like I drunk Welch's grape juice 😱
    Too old or what?
