From pop and pour: Faintly scented wet brick, rhubarb, smoked saline, toast, caramel, diesel and game-funk. Faded on the palate exposing sharp non-distinct red fruit, leather, cigar box and a cotton mouth drying finish which was quite astringent. After two hours: Vastly improved mouth feel; soft plums, juicy crushed fruit and stones arose. Smooth, easy to drink with bit of heat noted which was ultra subtle. Great with a hearty pasta dish.

This opulent Ripasso begins with an array of aromatics including sweet-wet tobacco, smouldering cherries and mulberries gorged in Pastis coated in cow hide. Parades a richness on the tongue with raisins and prunes steeped in clove infused rum, chewy fruit skins and finishes with an oily impression that drifts on the palate for an elongated span of time.

70% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 5% Mourvedre Ready to drink now, this fiery spiced Grenache blend is brimming with tarragon scented dried fruit, musk dusted leather and charcoaled asphalt. Medium in weight, it provides the back palate with gushing herbs, rich soil with a brightly diffuse delicate finish. Delivers excellent value.

12/16/2013 1:34:00 PM - Hello VinLancaster. I know from reading your notes that you appreciate Red Moutnain wines. Barrister has released a stunner, comprised mostly of Tapteil fruit, in their 2010 Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. It is priced under $40, and therefore a ridiculous value. Cheers!
7/9/2013 11:25:00 PM - VinLancaster, I have seen your reviews on a number of Washington wines that I have just tasted on a mini tour. I apprecaite your notes and think we share a similar taste profile, at least for NW wines. I also noticed that you focus on the treasures of WA and OR over the over-priced CA hodge-podge. I couldn't agree more. Wohlsein!
