deep clean earth and smooth mixed wild berry. Some gravitas. Full mid palate and has a full mouthfeel for a brunello. Let stand and decant for sediment.

This is a perk-your-head-up Brunello. Opened for four hours, decanted for two hours. All manner of cherry, but spiced with cedar and the right measure of barely-rounded tannins. A treat. Maybe better that it followed a mealtime 2008 BdM, as the latter complemented the rib-eyes well, where this would have been more like competition. As it was, it was terrific with a cheese course.

Medium garnet with red edges. Bright berry, and black currant fruit and pine forest in the background. Dry light berry flavours and a bit of cherry in the light finish.

Consistent with my last couple of notes, not a bad bottle of red wine, but not one that I would identify as Brunello. Others may like this more than I, but the lack of Brunello typicity is at least IMO a failing. With any luck, my last bottle.

I just tried the '06 Costanti and the '08 Stella di Campalto - the nose here may be the most pronounced, but I can't say I would call this Brunello blind. Very ripe red & black fruit on the nose.
Seamless but somewhat straightforward on the palate. This is not a bad wine, and to be honest, if you like California Cabernet you might think it's a very good wine, but I find it somewhat atypical of Brunello, and given the vintage, disappointing.

Dark red color with some citrus in the bouquet. Ripe red and dark fruit, still quite fresh, with some chalk and minerals and plenty of acidity. Nice balanced. In the early maturity phase with some time to go.

Okay, but given the vintage, I expected more. Earthy red fruits on the nose, with sweet & sour red fruit on the palate. Nicely focused on the palate, with decent persistence, but it's good as opposed to great. Probably some potential here for further development, but I don't see outstanding potential here.
Still, one could do worse on a Wednesday night.

Not bad, although I'm not sure I would call this a Brunello blind. More black fruits than red, with a smoked meat note on the nose. A little less acidity than my normal preference.
Interesting, if not quite what I look for in Sangiovese.

Not bad - a spicy note on the palate that adds interest, with earthy red and black fruits on the nose. Medium-bodied, decent acidity and persistence. I like the way this is showing right now.

This was quite harsh when first opened and needed a good hour to smooth out. Still quite tannic, but they are fine and enjoyable. Black fruits mostly with some spice. Long finish. Good for the price but did pop and pour or you will be very disappointed.

Decanted for two hours. Chracteristic BdM, chalky black cherries, a little licorice. Seemed young but is eminently drinkable. Paired very well with Bistecca all Fiorentina.

A shade or two darker in the glass than the Siro Pacenti I just tasted. Black and red fruits on an otherwise unremarkable nose.
Okay - this has less acidity than the Pacenti, and because I'm drinking this 2nd, it comes off a little flabby right now because of the acid deficiency. Although on the 2nd taste, this shows better, so perhaps I just needed to acclimate to the wine a bit. Similar to the Pacenti, there is still some unresolved tannin on the back end.
I usually find 15 years from the vintage to be a good time to start checking out a vintage, so I am jumping the gun here a bit. Like the Pacenti, this might also get better over the next five or so years.

Rich ripe and full bodied, with deep black cherry fruit and evident vanilla. Seems in the modern camp but still provides complexity with the almond and woodsy notes. I would drink now while the fruit balances the oak.

Russk. Whiners at Mustang Chianti Classico vs Brunello vs Vino Nobile among my top 8 out of about 23. I wish I had more. I think my reviews for the 2004 are mistaken and are meant to be the 2006.

Decanted, followed over 90 minutes with a meal. At first sips, young and slightly chalky red cherries; after 30 minutes rich darker fruit emerges and the chalkiness recedes. Lots of evolution in the wine's flavors over the course of the meal, resulting in a delicious iteration of Brunello. Recommended. Drink or hold; probably a decade of greatness ahead for this wine.

A new world/modern style wine. It is smooth and jammy, the acidity is balanced and the tannins are not too grippy. It's a very enjoyable wine but not traditional brunello. More cooked black fruit than any brunello I've had. Reminds me of some of the IGT blends. Ready to drink in May 2016.

Delicious Brunello, this wine is at an enjoyable moment, integrated tannins, right balance of earthiness and fruit with a medium to long finish, this can be enjoyed with food or charcuterie.

Great color, a bitter on the darker red/purple side for a brunello. Nice nose of leather, dark fruit and cedar. Great up front acidity, with some tart cherry, blackberry, spice and oak. Firm tannins on the back end, but not bitter. Great QPR for a brunello.

Features the hallmarks of Sangiovese bottlings: intense brown concentrated fruit with a slightly bitter/sour finish. There is enough acidity to pair well with any red sauce but it doesn't hold it's own as well as I'd expect from a Brunello. This is a nice and subtle introduction to Tuscany with....not he best Brunello I have ever had-but good.
The 2006 La Rasina Brunello di Montalcino shows intense aromas of blackberry, floral, spice and some charred cedar. Full-bodied and focused with firm tannins and a beautiful long chewy finish. This Brunello is more on the modern side. Needs a bit more time in the cellar to soften up. (Drink 2014-2026) - JD

Foreward nose of dusty black cherry and grilled meat, with a solid, lean core. Medium weight and somewhat silky on the palate. Plenty of juicy acidity and more black cherry with subtle anise notes. Long finish of spicy wood and aromatic cherry skins. Fine tannins grab, and then let go. Balanced and very easy to drink.
