It is always a treat to check in on the wines from the great Julian Haart. This was an absolute dynamite wine that showed fantastic energy, power and incredible clarity. Upon opening there was piquant ginger spiced peach and candied lime that led into notes of smoke and minty herbs. With air, the juicy and mouth coating fruit gained focus along with a vein of chalky minerality running down the core. Everything was capped off with a long spicy and tangy finish. The fact that this is 'just' his village level wine speaks volumes about the high level of winemaking happening. Julian makes wines of incredible energy, depth and clarity. They are truly special and this was no exception.

Lemon peel, ginger, crushed stone on the nose. Palate with yellow stone fruits and hints of sweet herbs. Great structure provided by wonderful acidity.

Good, but a little richer than I was expecting. Ripe orchard fruit, tropical tones, honey but without the bracing acidity I prefer.
