Donnhoff is one of my favorite producers. This was shared at a Riesling tasting, and was by far the least expensive bottle on the table, but stood up to some big hitters from a wide array of vintages. My take home from that tasting reinforced the notion that Riesling is an eternal elixir that only improves with age.
This bottle was a baby, but showed great concentration of peachy fruits and honey. It paired very well with samosas and cured pork sausage. Terrific value!
Definitely showing mature, but the good aspects of that in the richness of the pitted fruit (apricot, nectarines) it was showing and the generally bright acidity starting to fade. Still honeyed and a very good pairing with tandoori chicken and butternut squash / lentils.

Honey in the nose with ripe pears and some burnt caramel. On the palate more honey, ripe peach, melon, slight petrol notes, some minerality, good weight, beautifully balanced with present acidity. Highly delicious with a variety of cheese and by itself within the following few days

WineBerserkers dinner (Chicago, IL): #06-06, 8.5% abv. This was showing a little more advanced than I would have expected, and lacking some of the cut that I like in my riesling. The nose first shows a bit of sponti, and there's a good amount of slatey minerality as well. The palate is a mix of yellow and white -- quite fruity and rounded. A good, chewy texture on the finish.

Golden yellow. Nose is floral, pear, apple. Taste was rich, moderately sweet, long aftertaste. Delish!
