  • Audouze'd in the AM and drunk over a few hours at night. Served blind a rare close guess by me "a late 90's NSG from an excellent producer"

Dark cherry fruit, tilled earth and iron on the nose. Mid plus weighted for pinot, structured and savory with more iron, some heme, dark fruits, soil and a sense of minerality and focus. A little brooding but not stern. Finishes with firm for pinot tannins. Early peak.

  • Drunk with goose breast and garden produce. In a sweet spot this combined still vibrant plum and cherry fruit with iron, earth, leather and animale elements. The palate was perhaps more complete than the nose which drifted in and out. ****

  • Similar experience to bottle 4 years ago. Showing a little more soil and a little less fruit, touch more acidity starting to poke through on finish. Nice wine but not revelatory. Preferred the '98 Cailles a few months ago.

  • In the zone right now. Pop and pour with light red fruit. With air it develops some leather and minerality. Smooth sweet tannins.

Rockss and Fruit

(Chevillon Nuits-Saint-Georges "Les Vaucrains") Such an earthy nose. Sour cherries, wet leaves, nuts, brambly fruit, cranberries and some nice minerality. Fat, sweet, lush with nice acidity and lots of red tangy fruit. Nice long finish. This was a little tight upon opening but got really good really quick. A lovely '98 that is showing beautifully now but will surely improve in the next five year.
