2022 Ridge Geyserville

From 1/2 bottle. Opened for 1 hour. Color is ruby. On the nose: Mixed red and blackberries, cherry, cola, some baking spices and smells warm if that makes sense. On the palate: Red and blackberries, lots of baking spices, cola, cinnamon and some tart cassis. Young but delicious. I would give this a few years. It’s Memorial Day so an American wine makes sense to have for me.

2022 Garciarevalo Verdejo Rueda Casamaro

My aperitif before moving on to the more serious stuff and to aid my cooking. Color is pale straw. On the nose: Light citrus, apple/pear, honeysuckle and some other floral notes. On the palate: Pear, apple, honeysuckle, grapefruit and some cut grass. Simple but solid. It’s hot and I just ran 9 miles so it’s tasting very good to me. Will try again tomorrow.

2015 Château Haut-Brion

From 1/2 bottle. Opened for an hour. Color is deep and opaque ruby. On the nose: Plum, cassis and graphite. On the palate: Plum, cassis, graphite, earthy notes and a bit of espresso. Very young but superb. I had the pleasure of drinking a 1952 a week ago in London while out with friends. That to me was surprisingly good and put me in the mood to try this for the holiday weekend. I will let it open up while dinner is prepped. Alas it is my only bottle.
