Outstanding. Racy, key lime, mango; burnt marshmallow in the finish. CT says this is my last bottle but I could have sworn I saw a couple more when I pulled this one. If that’s true, I’ll drink another this year and hold one a bit longer — there may be a bit more left in the tank, even if drink now is a pretty good plan.

Cork, 8% alc. AP1709. Pale steely gold. Soft cork that is a bit soggy. Small bubbles in the bottom of the glass.
Burnt toast, kerosene, citrus, wet slate, white flowers.
Airy and zippy palate. Not quite spritzy but it does almost have an effervescent character. Moderate length, finishing almost dry with some phenolic group. A toasty element emerges on day two along with greater fruit concentration.
Delicious when consumed closer to room temperature.

Light tropical notes to the majority citrus, a touch candied. Very little petrol and still relatively primary. Wonderful, crystalline structure. Sweetness perfectly integrated along with acid.

Replacement for a corked Emrich-Schonleber. Clear light greenish yellow with slight residual spritz. Light, racy lime and guava. Minimal residual sugar-an old fashioned proper Kabinett. Ooh is this zesty and good. Another decade easily in front of it if you choose to wait for more maturity.
More orange peel the second night, slightly sweeter, and just dripping with slate. Love this bottle.

Petrol, lime, peach pit, smoke, and a touch of honey. Light and playful on the palate, with fresh acidity lifting the fruit notes on the midpalate and finish. Very happy to get a glimpse into what a JJP kabinett is like with 10+ years of bottle age, from an "anonymous" donor.

At 10 yrs old my last and best btl ever. Palish gold with fresher nose and palate then I remember. The heavy petrol of earlier btls has largely dissipated and the palate tonight more expansive and complex. Still very youthfully light colored and fresh with vibrant fruit and slate flavors. Now, I wish I had one or 2 more perfectly stored btls from this vintage. 92pts+ 8% alc

Opened for Mother's Day 2018 - after a nice hike and paired with hoisin chicken. Light and lively, pale straw color. Deft, with slight petrol, cut grass, hay, botrytis nose. Sweet but not overly so. Somewhat simplistic but certainly enjoyable. A nice Kabinett. I'm tending towards the sweeter classifications over time. Certainly excellent however.

Solid Riesling Kabinett. I prefer mine a little fresher and brighter. This does have complexity but the petrol and rounder weighty feel skips a beat for my palate. After this I have one more Prum and likely won't reload this producer. That said I'm a Chardonnay / Chablis / White Burg lover and Riesling really isn't my thing most of the time.

Lovely nose. Pear, tropical fruits, white flowers, elder, mango, balanced sweetness and smooth minerality. Light weighted palate with early maturity, medium acidity, still fresh and vibrant but past the youngest stage. Wonderful balance, again that's what's most striking. The fruit outpowers the acidity on the palate but this wine has many years left before it's starting to develop into something else. Hold or drink, can't go wrong here imo. Equally good day 2, perhaps a bit better, showing more of that early maturity, even some petrol. Great wine.

Madison Offline 2015; 8/27/2015-8/29/2015: Beautiful pale, crystalline lemon color, just a slight spritz initially. Broad yet precise nose, flinty, slightly oily, faint citrus. Very light on the palate, almost delicate, with fading acidity, stone fruits and a citrus undertone that keeps this lively. Short. Overall a pleasingly clean and refreshing Kabinett, both chilled and as it warmed to room temperature, probably a bit short on depth and vinous structure for some palates.

Still somewhat reductive nose, even after 24 hours in the decanter, in the fridge. Some petrol, mineral notes too. Not very much sweetness on palate; decent fruit for a kab; acidity integrated. The perfect aperitif and clearly has much longer to run. Wish I had more than a case.

Nose has petrol with a dirty minerality character. Palate had grapefruit and sweet peach on the palate - guessing quite a bit of RS as it also had a green apple jolly rancher quality. It has a cheap taste that I can't really describe. Did not like this wine.
This wine was very polarizing to the team - all votes on the high or low end.

Light straw color, nose was all sulphur (rotten eggs) at first. This blew off, and had a nice flowery nose. Dried apricot, petrol, and white fruit in the mouth, liked it better the more it opened. Finished 5th out of 8 at CT Seattle Riesling tasting. It was one of 3 Rieslings above 90 in my own scoring.

Chicken and Champers and Riesling (Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken, NYC.): Young Prum nose - some sponti, which I always read as brown spices - cumin, some peach, red apple. Airy and Elegant. Very light on the palate - spicy, peach, red apple, some sweet acid. Soft peach and flint on the finish, then the acid comes out more - with grapefruit and lemon. Classic Kabinett. Maybe even a bit light for my tastes - something about the 08 Germans never quite clicked for me.

Neutral pale lime green color. Somewhat restrained and slightly reductive nose with aromas of rubber, flinty stone, some smoke, a little bit of honeyed sweetness and a hint of developed petrol character. The wine is quite sweet and almost weightless on the palate with racy acidity and clean, focused flavors of petrolly minerality, wet stones, some green apples, a little bit of lemony citrus fruit and a subtle touch of honey. The finish is long, clean and vibrant with quite mineral flavors of steeliness, wet stones, a little bit of slatey earth, a hint of petrol and a touch of honey.
A beautiful, bright and focused Mosel Riesling showing that harmonious combination of sweetness, acidity and almost weightless mouthfeel. The wine is, however, in a bit of a dumb phase right now, making the nose feel slightly closed and the fruit characteristics subdued. There is a lot of cellaring potential here, but I wouldn't pop the wines open yet. Let the wine age +5 years more and serve it preferably with some time in a decanter beforehand. Recommended.

Great nose - petrol, significant sponti - cumin, crisp peas. Also lime and minerals. Really snappy, crisp and fresh, but with excellent depth. The palate is good, but not as good - with lime, minerals, cumin. The finish is lacking something - it seems a little blocky and shows lime and spice. Too bad, if the rest of the wine had lived up to the nose, then we'd really be cooking with gas. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 4.5/6, Finish - 4/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 15/20.

Would have thunk this a Spatlese, as a decent amount of residual sugar and a leaning towards riper stone fruit flavors as opposed to green apple. Very nice, with balanced acidity and some Stoney minerality. A touch of funk blew off quickly.

Rieslingfeier 2014 - BYOB Main event (Rouge Tomate, NYC): A classic Mosel Kabinett; fresh apple and lemon fruit framed by gentle floral notes, slate and a touch of that Prüm sponti/sulfury funk, all conveyed with remarkable lightness and purity of flavour.

Sweet German Wine Tasting; 5/26/2013-5/29/2013 (Vin Gilles): 8%. The nose is more reticent than the Adam. It first glance it appears to have slightly more finesse, but its also still in its shell and the sweetness of the wine comes through and ends up dominating. In time the fruit will come more to the fore and the sweetness will subside, but for the moment it needs some time in the cellar. Nice wine, but for a Kabinett I would like a bit less sweetness.

Utterly delicious. Is it ready though? Lots of refreshing forward acidity, pure fruit. Not much petrolly Riesling character showing as yet. I don't know whether I'll be able to resist leaving some of these to see what happens in say 5 years time

Crystalline pure fruit including peaches, apricots and grapefruit allied with silky mouthfeel create a sense of great anticipation as the first sip slides enticingly down the throat. And then...nothing. Or close to nothing. There is a residual tanginess on the tongue and some distant echos of the beautiful fruit that preceded it, but the finish is so extraordinarily short and the acidity so lacking that this resembles a slightly alcoholic cordial. An exceedingly good one, granted.

Simple but pure fruit on this JJ Prum Kabinett, with medium freshness at best, though it possessed a saline quality on the brief but enjoyable finish, there was some citrus and residual sugar along with crushed rock, all mingling together quite nicely. I'd say this was semi-sweet...definitely not overly sweet like some Kabinett's I've had in the past. 8% ABV, 87-89 points. Don't see much reason to wait on this, but since I have another I'll see how long I can hold out.

Dinner at Cafe de HK (Cafe de HK, Balestier Road): Not much has changed on this over the past half-year - it still showed as a young, rather unyielding Kabinett. Good, but not exceptionally so. It really does deserves a few more years of age. The nose, at least, was a bit more open. After some 4 hours in an open bottle, all traces of sulphur had blown away. There were some petrol nuances on the nose already, along with nectarines and white peach scents, white flowers and the slightest touch of Sonnenuhr vanilla making its way to the surface. Nice, but a little tight. I liked the palate quite a bit. There was great purity to its sweet lemon and white peach notes laced with the same floral tones picked up on the nose, and then a great burst of citrussy acidity that was somehow knitted wonderfully into the bones of the wine. All that racy acidity made it quite a wonderful foil for a whole range of dishes on the table. Unfortunately, it was just a bit on the simple side at the moment - four or five more years before it really hits its stride in my opinion. This will be one very long-lived Kabinett.

This is a fairly demanding Kabinett from JJ, with a firm structure and lots of mineral. Ripe fruit builds the backbone, but this is much more of a food wine than a quaffer.

Plenty of lime and apple. Just a touch sweet, and while it's never cloying it's also not so racy that you don't notice the sweetness. Not particularly slatey. Not as good as the 07 version -- even with a few hours of air this never quite fills out with the structure and midpalate density the 07 had. Still nice though.

As lovely as Prum Kabinetts usually are, this was a touch lacking in comparison. Ripe and penetrating, and showing much less sulfur presently than the '07's, this was somewhat loose and lacked some of the tension found in the finest examples. Don't get me wrong, this is a pretty Kab and anyone who doesn't want theirs send 'em my way. This needs time to round into form.

2011 Tasting Event - Goedhuis in SG (Hotel Fort Canning): Alcohol :: 8% A.P. 2 576 511 17 09. This has better focus compared to the Loosen with mango, grape fruits and little touch of mineral. Very good tension on the entry and mid palate but fan out a bit simple with some grippy acidity, ripe lemon, mineral that come with with grape fruits. Friendly finish that lack of complexity nor excitement.

Goedhuis Wine Tasting Singapore (Fort Canning Hotel): Quintessentially Prüm rather than Mosel. This still had traces of sulfur on the nose and a rather soft palate bordering on flabby. Racy is a term I would not use here. This probably needs time to blossom as per other examples chez Prüm but at the moment, not really delicious at all.

Goedhuis Tasting 2011 (Fort Canning Hotel): A bit muted, but far better than the last time I tried it shortly after release. This showed typical WS vanilla scents alongside flowers and white fruit on the nose. The palate was rather tighter than the nose though, showing primary white fruit and more citrussy grapefruit and lemony flavours. Still, this showed lovely balance and poise with the nicely fresh but understated acidity so typical of both the maker and the terroir. Not the most impressive of Kabinett at the moment, especially looking at what some of Prum's neighbours have accomplished in recent years, but this was still a very good wine which should only really hit its stride in a few years' time.

Served at dinner, this had been open for some time before sampling. Pale honey gold. Nose of limes, green apples, honeydew, spring florals. Refreshing mix of mango, white peach, lychee, and lemon-lime on the palate with lots of energizing acidity and exquisite minerality. Just this side of sweetness, not the least bit cloying. Lovely finish of silky tropical fruit with bits of flint. Biggest challenge is not depleting my small stash immediately; I'll bet they can age extremely well.

Pale white gold. Slow ox'd an hour before serving. Good thing as the nose was reduction and petrol at first. Could/should have decanted this as it was quite fizzy for about 45 minutes after opening. The nose is quite Sancerre-like with cut grass and grapefruit, but a pleasant floral tone brings some beauty to the aromatics. Light to medium bodied with extremely high acidity. The mid palate is coated with apricot and key lime. Prum has a way of creating a mouthfeel which is rich and coating, yet completely refreshing. The finish is long and this is just excellent.

A bit of sulphur on the nose at first but it blew off with air. Comnpared to the 2007 of this last week I was a bit underwhelmed. Still very youthful with a touch of spritz, pale colour and a subtle nose of lemon. Needs time to come together. However, to taste this was rather dilute citrus juice and a bit short on the finish. Restrained fruit and it will no doubt improve with age but very much a wine in a minor key.

As is typical of young Preum wines, there is quite a bit of sulfur on the nose, candied grapefruit, freshly sliced green apple, white flower blossoms, lemon blossom, ivory soap, milk weed, very intense minerality, hard slate. On the palate, the wine is delicately sweet, more white peach and fleshy fruit than expected. Classic '08 delicacy and balance. Very mineral. Very long clean finish. The wine needs more time in the bottle.

Lots of potential but fairly closed on the palate. The nose actually shows some trademark Mosel petrol and floral aromas but the palate was limited to modest apple, pear and stony flavors. Seems like it has a lot in reserve yet. The color was still clear white and really not very pretty yet. Still, this is very pure, clean and promising. Patience. I have 4 more.

BMDP Charity Dinner and Extras (Meritus Mandarin / Amber Park): A nice Kabinett, but I really should have known better than to pop and pour. True to JJ Prum's style, it was all sulphur dioxide right out of the glass. Slightly stinky eggs dominated. Got better with vigorous swirling, but it only started really showing its mettle in the last three glasses that had the benefit of being left for 24 hours in the bottle. Sulphur had blown off by then to show pink guava, fresh white asparagus, touches of white fruit, fresh meadow herbs and a subtle minerality. The minerals on the palate were anything but subtle though. Full-blown Mosel sculpting, with slatey, stony notes weaving their was very nicely through pink guava and white fruit notes, along with just a touch of citrus, pomelo maybe. Great fresh balance, long gentle finish. Not quite the fleshiness and weight of 2005, 2006 or 2007 - more like a 2004 here, except a little gentler on the acidity and more giving with the fruit. Not the most outstanding Kab, but all very understated and very classy though. In other words, very JJ Prum.

Drank over 2 nights and better still tonight. The petrol has largely dissipated on night #2 and the palate more expansive. Still very youthfully light colored and fresh with vibrant fruit and slate flavors. Decant next btl.

Seattle Wine Group - Feb 2015 Tasting - Theme: Riesling -- Dry & Dessert (Amaroso Room - Wine Storage Bellevue): Wine G
My rank: 8th out of 8

On the palate, peach, pineapple rounded with a nice well integrated acidity which takes the wine to another level.

Goedhuis Wine Tasting Singapore (Fort Canning Hotel): Quintessentially Prüm rather than Mosel. This still had traces of sulfur on the nose and a rather soft palate bordering on flabby.
