  • What a beautiful wine. Stunning nose of dark fruits integrated into light notes of eucalyptus. Balanced on the palate - a real tongue glider. Length for days. Shame I only had one bottle! What a treat. Pull the trigger now if you’re wondering whether to drink it; but could age gracefully for another few years I’d say.

  • Outstanding wine from the first mouthful to the last. It was a raspberry, blackberry jammy shiraz with great mouthfeel which drank perfectly now but I am sure could easily have been cellared for longer. An absolute beauty!

  • Last tasting note still spot on. Insanely deep and dark purplish red with violet hues. Lovely and fresh nose with lavender, violets, fresh twigs, black olives and black raspberries. Definitely seems to be a cooler styled Syrah. Balanced acidity and tannins (6/10) with a medium to medium plus body. Layered palate with red cherries, black raspberries, iron, white and black pepper, and a bit perfumey. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2030.

  • Don’t hold out any longer for this one Boys & Girls. Like a warm blackberry pudding. Cannot fault. Best mouthful was the last.

  • Farsch this is good. Classic Barossan nose with blackberries and aged leather. Still a rich, deep purple. Really complex, fascinating wine. Full bodied, medium + acid and high tannin - all working in perfect harmony. Notes of cloves, fennel and mint come through strongly, sitting behind more traditional oaky notes. Absolutely awesome

  • Visitors from Auckland come bearing gifts (Wanaka Wedge House, Queensberry, Central Otago, New Zealand): As ever, a superb expression of Barossa. Opulent ripe bleach fruits, but with coaxing the nose offers uncommon complexities, including earth, leather, and stems. In the mouth, rich, but balanced. Tangy complexity. Not as “French” influenced as other bottles, but this has brilliant character.

  • Upon opening huge nose of black fruits, blueberries and violets.
Colour has moved from purple to a darker deep red over a few years
    Decanted for a few hours.

Palate was well balanced with black fruit, earthy oak and tannins working well together. A hint of burnt leaves and aged leather.

Medium length and full bodied complimented rare steak.

  • What an absolutely beautiful shiraz, so stylish, pretty and glamorous on the surface but has a deep, serious masculinity that gives it so much substance. Tastes of fennel, undergrowth, dried herbs, BBQ, black plums and cherries, five spice, oak and all sorts of flavours. Showing some nice grippy tannins, it is also supple, smooth and inviting. Unreal

  • Interesting bottle of multi vintage Shiraz from Barossa. Powerful nose of violet and smoky bacon following through with a hint of liquid smoke on the palate. Personally I think an extra couple years in the cellar is what it needs to integrate more. Drink 2022-2030

  • Another great wine. It's a big wine but well integrated and balanced. Beautiful juice.

  • The nose on these wines is nothing short of a symphony. Potpourri, violets, crushed blackberries, and graphite...yet it remained very light. Liqueur like finish that struts between cocoa dusted fig and dark fruit. Main difference between this and their single vineyard offering is the density on the mid palate. Hope these remain under the radar for my own benefit. Absolutely astounding.

  • Found this at Watson's in Lan Kwai Fong... new in. Nice work. Though I'd never heard of SO, I saw his other bottles were made of Hoffman (the man's a genius) grapes so I got very excited.

Sure enough this is a decent wine, but no where near the dizzying heights of my hopes. Sort of a cross between Barossa and a more purple Rhone, also a dollop of greenness as often found in whole bunch clusters with liberal does of stem thrown in.

A decent but forgettable wine for me.

  • I've never had a wine quite like this, but I hope to have more! Some classic game, kirsch and bacon notes are paired with an immensely appealing taut, earthy character that I've not encountered in other powerful Shiraz. The wine gives a wonderful impression of effortless weight and authority. Tied with the 07 Progeny Reserve for my WOTN in a memorable field.

  • Bill's in town, so why not kill a Sami-Odi??? He opened the Greenock Creek 02 Seven Acre, so why not this one? This wine has an intoxicating nose like the Sami-Odi Hoffman 0.534 Syrah consumed a few months before. This is definitely a "little wine" to this HD Syrah. Displaying just as much lusciousness in the nose. One person said "I don't know what this is, but I can smell this in the glass for the rest of the night and I would be satisfied." Mission accomplished! The entry is dark, black fruit and a ton of it. Dark, black, condense, full bodied, although the finish seems to be a bit shorter than the Hoffman Dallwitz. Multi-vintage wine of 2012, 15, 16, 17 Syrah. Delicious. Still has 10 years left.

  • this didnt show as well as prior bottles, with just a touch too much green varnish showing. I still love this though and somewhere between 93 and 94 with much room fro improvement

  • Fourth red wine at our wine tasting dinner (#DCWineCru) and our contribution. This is our first time trying out a wine from Fraser Mckinley and Sami-Odi. We were expecting quite a bit from this since we have seen it called the Sine Qua Non of Australia and it did not disappoint. Made up of 100% Syrah from four vintages; 2017 (43%), 2016 (36%), 2015 (15%) and 2012 (4%). All the fruit is from the Hoffman's "Dallwitz" Vineyard with vines from four different plantings; 1996, 1995, 1960 and some planted before 1912. Only 6,527 bottles produced.

Not a wine for everyone, especially if you are expecting a big, over extracted wine. This has a ton of finesse and character to it. Almost Northern Rhone Valley like.

  • just sunning, great balance from a young release, althoough not really a suprise considering makeup of the wine. Not as green as many Sami's but this is immense, not ripe but very full bodied. Great wine

  • This is a blend of 12, 15, 16 and 17. It is super bright and punchy with complex aromatics of black cherry, cracked pepper, camphor, floral spice and stalks. It has lovely fresh fruit in the mouth and is perfectly countered by all of the savoury elements.
