This was WOTN - Wine of the Night of three Napa Bordeaux varietals from the same vintage. Dark inky garnet colored, full bodied, rich concentrated, structured black berry and black raspberry fruits integrated with notes of cassis, clove spice, currant and licorice, turning to silky smooth finely textured, supple tannins on the supple finish. Vibrant and expressive at nineteen years.
Aromas of clove, black berry jam, and plum sauce. Was worried it was going to be a fruit bomb, but my fears we dispelled after a few sips. Very dark, ripe blueberry flavors and some spice box. Very Mt. Veeder profile. Initially had lots of heat but blew away after 1 hour of decanting. Still has pretty good structure with very fine grain tannins.
Its best days are behind it but properly stored 2002s will provide enjoyment for another 2-3 years.

Seven out of seven tasters thought this bottle was corked, but two of us said we would drink it anyway because of the nice underlying fruit.

Drinking nicely; some of the fruit is gone, but still there is a balanced amount. Probably complimenting food better now. Still has much to give.
