Deep purplish cherry, but almost completely opaque except at the very edge of the glass, this is really too dark for a pinot noir. On the other hand, the nose is not too wildly extracted and is reasonably complex. It is quite sweet smelling, with plenty of cherry and raspberry, but also just a little bit of the pinot cola and some freshly crushed maple leaves. There's also an interesting bit of green peppercorn. The palate has a nice base of primarily raspberry fruit, but with a good deal of green pepper and green olive, as well. There are not a lot of tannins, but there is a great streak of acidity providing a good solid core to this wine. Still, I would say this is at the "drink now" point. The oak treatment is not overwhelming, and the only balance problem is an excess of alcohol which takes away some of the elegance on the finish. Overall, this is clearly a New World pinot, but with a lot of finesse to it. It is considerably better than I remember it from a year or so ago.

Had this one a little too quickly. Funky nose began to blow off as the evening went on. A bit barnyard and some green pepper, this is more on the Old World end of things. I suspect this has the legs to improve somewhat, although I also suspect it has a somewhat limited upper end. Will keep my other bottles cellared for another year or two.

Sappy, long and a cherry bomb. Succulent and provacative, in an innocent way. Very ready and hits every palate meridian. Drink now - 2016.
