Nose and palate give away Bien Nacido vineyard. Very distinctive. Cherry and rose petals on the nose, with more of the same, plus some spice, on the palate. Medium finish. Very nice, and has aged very well.

P&P. it was a bit harsh and disjointed with an odd finish at first. Let sit in the glass for about 30 min and much better. light in body, red fruit, medium finish, good tannins. This would benefit from a 30-45 min decant.

Medium-dark garnet in glass, with rich red fruit and spice aromas. Palate shows classic Bien Nacido flavors of wild cherry, rosebud and spice, touches of earthy loam, well-balanced in a lush and rich mouthful, with supportive acidity, with a long and delicious finish.

Blind Pinot Noirs; 5/1/2014-5/2/2014 (Washington, DC): A light cranberry color. Complex and evolving aromas of wild cherries, spiced cranberry sauce, black pepper and pickled beet, which combine to form an aromatic orgasm. Tangy acid and fine tannins frame the cranberry and strawberry fruit. I love the fresh and brisk approach of this wine, not to mention the cracked pepper, beef broth and pickle flavors. Juicy, but so tangy, with lots of secondary flavors that I think could develop well over the next two to four years. This is so complex and unique, packed with flavor but still so elegant. One of the most contemplative and intriguing California Pinots I’ve had in while.
