  • This still needs a 90 min decant. Tannins well integrated. Nice balance and finish. Certainly in its prime with at least a decade of good drinking ahead. Revisit 2025

  • Agree with other tasters. This fell short of being that special wine I was hoping for. Unfortunately, didn’t save a sip for next day to see if it improved.

  • I‘ve followed this wine over two days and my conclusion is that the structure would need another 5+ years to further mellow but that there is not enough fruit left to allow for extended ageing. I like that the wine beautifully brings a hot, dry Tuscan landscape by the end of summer into your glass, the roughness of a hard day on a farm but in the end the complexity, precision but especially the structure and balance are short of exceptional. I wouldn‘t wait much longer with this wine.

TN: Mature nose displaying leather, truffles, mushrooms and earthy notes with medium intensity and precision. On the palate a younger appearance with lots of red fruit, floral aromas and lots of herbal and earthy aromas. Medium intensity and delineation. Earthy and dusty appearance with slightly granular tannins and a high but relatively well integrated acidity. On day two more tertiary aromas with higher precision but hardly any fruit on the palate but a softer, better structure.

Decanting: I would decant for at least two hours.

  • Nose: cola, dried fruits, a tad of soy sauce
Mouth: herbal and floral like crazy. Very different from what I expected after smelling it (maybe due to my inexperience with Sangioveses). Very earthy. Like an alpine meadow! Alpine herbs and mince and so many flowers! Deep blue fruit underneath.

After the wine was in the bottle for 24 hours the wine was still very smooth. More blueberries on on the nose and in the mouth and still a lot of herbs, but no flowers anymore. Nice balance and very well integrated tannins, even more than yesterday already.

We decanted one glass worth of the wine for 24 hours too. The nose was much more truffel-heavy, with leather and clay aromas. The fruit was now much brighter and had a molten quality. Coca Cola notes. Much more lightfooted on the whole, but well balanced. Very nice to drink. This wine is going to age nicely.
