Same bottle as collector. Have had this wine two or three times over the years, and as with most Brunellos, my view is that this is simply too old by now. Slightly oxidative but correct and fairly typical older Sangiovese fruit profile. Guessed 99 Brunello double blind. With the exception of perhaps Soldera and a few other BdM of similar pedigree, or exceptionally tannic and structured vintages like 2006, I think Brunello shows best even for 5 star vintage in the 10-15 year window.

Seemingly pristine first bottle from an OWC of 6. Very tight cork with only the very tip soaked. Very unusual matte garnet color with a touch of brown, flat nose, perhaps slightly corked, on the palate this is drinkable but clearly off. Poured down the drain. Sigh

Open this one second time, although the vintage is weak, it is really excellent and can pnp. Complex and elegant, with leather, earthy, black and red fruit, smoky, aroma. Quite like an old Bordeaux but with more complexity and fruitiness.
Great one, too bad I do not have any left....

Although it is from poor vintage, the wine from valdicava never disappointed me. subtle food aroma with balance tannin, a lovely wine and need to drink now (well.. maybe can age a few more years... but not too long)
