Surprisingly good for what I recall being a challenging vintage (rain at harvest?) after the more highly regarded streak of 1984-1987. Needs 2 to 3 hours of air to fully open up. There is still a lot of fruit here and the tannins are fully resolved. I really enjoyed it with grilled steak and potatoes. A great example of a mature California Cabernet that has aged remarkably well. (This vintage is 95% Cab Sauv, 3% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot -- and 12.9% alc.!) There was a fair amount of sediment so give it a careful decant.

On last legs, but still lovely. Red fruit, thinning / souring a bit on finish, but very pure, light, with plenty of herbs and tobacco. Great with veal. Yum.

Bang Bang: Blinded for Ryan @golden8wines and Eric @harmacist. Ryan called it immediately, saying “This is classic 80s Cali Cab. Santa Cruz. Ridge.” Damn.
Drinking perfectly right now. Tannins fully resolved and silky with Bordeaux characteristics, but with purple fruit and the bright profile to give it a cool lift. Incredible finish and irresistible right now. Phenomenal wine.
