  This is truly an outstanding wine. Smooth and rich from the start. Lots of beautiful fruit. Randy and Dennis are an incredible team. Buy all you can find.

  2006 LEWIS HILLSTONE CABERNET - One of the FEW benefits of stay-at-home orders is the opportunity to update inventory and taste through the cellar. I have completed a mini-vertical of my Lewis Collection including 2004, 2005, 2006 Lewis Reserve Cabernet and the 2006 Lewis Hillstone Cabernet. Unfortunately, the Reserve Cabernets are all woefully over the hill. However, the star is the Hillstone! Deep purple color and no browning. Luscious dark fruit and salted, roasted almonds on the nose. The wine delivers that was promised on the nose and more! Blackberry, black cherry, dark chocolate and vanilla on the palate and a very long and satisfying finish. Perfectly integrated fruit and silky smooth tannins. Just beautiful and surprisingly long lived!

  Delicious sweet black berry, cassis, and black cherry flavors with rich oak and soft tannins on a long finish. Paired beautifully with Wagyu
  ribeye at Sullivan's!

  Dark and rich with fantastic aromas upon opening, which took about an hour in decanter. I enjoyed the dark fruit, cedar, and mild spices, but was surprised with a somewhat muted or faded overall experience. This was punctuated by a disjointedness and unexpected tannic roughness that contributed to a mid and back palate flatness. Have one more to try but if you are holding numerous bottles of this vintage try sooner rather than later.

  Very big and rich, yet not over the top at this point. Outstanding dark fruit (currants especially), cocoa, vanilla and wood spice. Very well integrated at this point, no hurry but I doubt it will get better. Very tasty.
