92p Vinnerd-opplevelse 100p

BYO Homecoming: BBR flaske, VTS fill. Drikk opp.

BN fill, provenance accounted for - excellent. Much red left; red fruits, black tea, old wood drawer, complex, fine grained; fresh and intense, red fruits, elegant, multi-layered finish. Details are so fine; you need really to concentrate.

Drank at home with steak on Sunday night. Cruse bottling. Not the best bottle with mid to high shoulder filll, so was not expecting much, and had a 86 Cos as back-up ready in case this would be oxidized. Cork however sitting tightly and even and no problem to extract with the Durand. Let the wine sit for about 15 min in the open bottle as it was not showing much and then drank over 2h. Garnet core with transparent and wide mahogany rim. Initially thin and acidic but gains weight with more air. A touch of strawberry, dried dark fruit and some medicinal notes. Very aromatic finish of good length. No rating entered as this was not a representative bottle but even this was around the 87-88 mark at age 73...

This pristine looking bottle (Cruse), had a very high shoulder fill. The cork was in fantastic condition and the wine had dropped a ton of sediment.
It had a medium/light red center and orange rims. The medium intensity nose put forth cherries, cola, minerals, and some cellar must.
In the mouth, this wine had a medium/light texture like an older Rioja. Not surprisingly, this had the boys guessing non-cabernet based wines. It was light and long with great balance and light but crisp tannin.
Overall, this was a very nice wine but there was a slightly sour quality to it that kept me from scoring it higher.
