65% CS, 30% Me, 4% CF and 1% PV. fresh dark fruits, blackcurrant, plum, subtle capsicum and vege leave, m+ body, fine and ripe tannins, a little firm. m++ finish with mild mocha and a little mineral, savoury notes. very good on its elegance and complexity.

Nice piercing nose of violet, blackberry, ripe plum, menthol at the open, nice mix of floral and dark fruit characters with little cassis and green notes too. Intense nose but not very lifted, more lean. Palate was okay, still felt like it needed 5- 8 years to mellow down and balance. Tannins were lean but still on the green side, balanced focus and richness, bit more on the savory side though from the tannin/wood tannin. Would have wanted a bit more fruit to balance. Tasted out of a 6l imperial, decanted 2 hours

When I tasted the 1990s or 2000s Bordeaux clarets, there was unmistakably pronounced strong tannin, the backbone of the structure in Bordeaux clarets. Of course, it took years, or decades, to evolve the clarets to become drinkable ones. Now, some makers of the Bordeaux clarets transformed themselves to make their clarets earlier to drink. There comes an obvious cost following the change: they are now Mollusca or invertebrates without a backbone. Last night, I observed that Potent-Canet followed suit. I will taste it more times, comparing the 2000s and 2010s. If I found my observation yesterday true, I would not pay a premium to buy a bottle of easy-drinking Bordeaux Gande Cru Classe clarets because there is a myriad of excellent and competitive cru bourgeois, or without any classes, carnets in the markets.
