Nice, big and jammy but perfect for the BBQ sausage dinner we had this evening, not sure of the varietal correctness in this case (could have been a bold Aussie Shiraz, Grenache or Merlot from what I could gather), but very tasty for sure - Black, full bodied with a nose of cherry jam, plum, leather and vanilla, nicely built, bold fruit, intense, huge, sweet and sour on the palate with very good length, hedonistic and proud to be (89 Points).

Made mostly from Mourvedre (or Mataro as it's usually known in Australia) this wine is blended with a small proportion of Shiraz and Grenache. This vintage was harvested late, and you can tell this from the slightly sweet character of the wine. In the glass, it's deep purple in colour. On the nose I found sweet berry fruit and liquorice and. The palate shows cherry, and almost a hint of sour cherry, along with tar characters and the slightest suggestion of oak. Sappy tannins and a little sweetness on the finish.

(D'Arenberg 28 Road Mourvedre) #2; VaynerPAZZZ; COLOR-really dark; NOSE-big cherry & strawberry; little bit of cinnamon; heavy violets; TASTE-fruit bomb; over-the-top; heavy raspberry jam; cinnamon; loaded w/ tar bubbles; very hot; explosive; great fruit; well made; if you love fruit bombs, you like this; but it's boring for me; a little line of bitter tannins on the finish; not bad, but I feel like there's a $15 version of this wine; JM-93; GV-89
