Despite a valiant effort, I could not determine the true grape blend of this Southern Rhone. That said, I suspect that it is a Grenache dominant wine with lesser amounts of Syrah and Mourvèdre. Splash-decanted and serially tasted over three hours, it is a deep ruby red that delivers aromas and flavors of black and blue bramble fruits, Provençal herbs, freshly cracked pepper and Asian spices. Full-bodied, fresh, lightly oaked and with plentiful edgy tannins, it delivers flavors mirroring the aromas and flashes no heat from its 15% alcohol (when served at 60-65°F). Layered and dense in the middle, it concludes with equal density and good length. Give this as much air as you can at this early stage. It will otherwise easily endure the decade. Drink now-2030.
