First Wednesday Wine Club (Napoli in Bocca, Haberfield): Served blind. Spiced, savoury, a little peppery note with red and black fruit and a touch of game. In the mouth it's juicy, fleshy, savoury, chewy talc textured tannins, fruit in support, non-intrusive alcohol warmth on the finish. balanced. Nice. I knew this was mine.

Coravin fun - Alsace, Loire and Random French (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Red fruits, meaty savouriness, quite gamey in fact with some sweet spice and a little almost baked bean quality. And that meatiness the dominant factor on the palate joined by drying woody tannic grip that closes all the other elements out. Drink up.

From Coravin. Ripe, backed red berry fruit, sweet and savoury spice, very warm climate. Quite baked on the palate as well and almost a little sweet, concentrated and a little alcoholically warm. Fine tannins. Hmm. Nice with roast pork and spuds with a mushroom and cream sauce.

Red and blackberry, very soft on the palate, arguably lacking acid, silky tannins, medium plus length. Very easy to drink.

Project supper with Cass (Cass and Adrians place, Huntley Hill): Dusty, very spicy, muted fruit, baked earth...arguably a little tired. Hmm. Okay.
