dark and brooding, nearly opaque. nose is spicy, fruit fwd with blackberries, eucalyptus, vanilla. palate is fruity but also woody, sprightly and acidic, plush with a velvety mid-palate, prominent tannins on the back end. approachable with air but would suggest another couple more years for the tannin to better integrate.

Black cherry marmalade and plum with notes of rosemary and new oak. Rich with a round mouthfeel and good freshness. The fruit is ripe, but not over the top. Nice minerality on the finish.

By the glass at Bar P41, Hotel Arts, Barcelona. Medium to dark ruby colour. Boiled down dark fruit, ripe blackberry, dark chocolate, dark cocoa, espresso, spices, and intense minerality, with medium-minus acidity, ripe, round tannin, and very good length. There is an intense, herbal, thyme, rosemary and mineral aspect that reminds a lot of the Southern Rhône. Ripe and full, but manages the new French oak and the high alcohol very well, and maintains its balance. Not my preferred style of wine, but clearly outstanding in its category!

As Spanish wines go, not my favorite this varietal was actually quite pleasing. Balanced with some good grit and mineral with out being too dry. Not as much fruit as I would prefer but certainly not terrible.

Liked at the WS Grand Tour. 90+pts. While still at 15.5%, it seems like the house style is dialing back a bit, and now more accessable younger.
