Dark red, almost black with no hint of bricking. An earthy and vegetal nose with dark blue fruits and cake spice with a eucalyptus note. The palate is rich with super smooth tannins and a kick of alcohol but plenty of brambly fruit, leather and tar. This will go for a long time yet. Nice to see a reasonably priced Barossa Shiraz developing so well after 10 years.

Ripe, round. But actually the nose is pretty decent, with blackberries and smoke. Okay acidity. Still has some time, but also don't see much happening with this. A bit too much heat to be consumed on its own, but paired nicely with braised beef short ribs.

Delivers what it promises. Typical Barossa shiraz, possibly a bit less ripe than usual, but might be a reflection of the bottle age. Decent nose (more smoked meat than usual, less dark fruit than usual).

Not bad....a bit light and uncomplicated but I don't see any reason to complicate the coming decade...so...then there's that. Drink up!
