Still very good, but I was a bit dissapointed that the wine was past its prime. This Meritage red blend was made from 90% Cab, 4% Cab Franc, & 6% Merlot grapes. Decanted for 3+ hours, while pouring it showed browning around the edges, but still held a nice Garnet color. Although the fruits' flavors were a bit fainted, overall the wine was smooth and finished very well.

Jim's Retirement Party (Libertyville, IL): From double-magnum. An absolute unit. Large-scaled and rich, but fully mature as well. I love the old-school Bordeaux notes coupled with the generous Californian fruit. It's a shame that this style of wine no longer exists but for a few exceptions.

Outrageous. I’m not a connoisseur, but this 38 year old beauty held up incredibly well.

Jim's Retirement Party (Libertyville, IL): Small glass from 3L. Much nicer than I expected, but so wannabe Bordeaux that can't quite deliver.
