Good balance of ripe black fruits, vanilla oak and toasted spices on the nose and palate. Full-bodied, creamy and full of aromatic clove, cinnamon and star anise in the mid-palate, overshadowing the rich fruits. Lengthy transition and a deep and somewhat bitter finish. The opaque structure hid many fine phenolic for now. This needs some decanting and a few more years of aging for the wine to open up its inner secrets. Enjoy this with a grilled steak or a hearty meat stew.

Love this wine. Wonderful on the nose. Has a nice old attic and corked taste to it and takes me on a tour of the cellar. Very smooth with just a touch of tannins. Not too bold, slightly oaked, toasty, cassis with a hint of fruit and soil. Not too complex but doesn't have to be.

Washington state Cab. Fruit forward with mild tannins. Very enjoyable without food as not overly fresh. Not very complex but great sipping wine and good with food too. Definitely a good regular wine to have from Duckhorn family. Update October 2023-compared against Daou. We all liked the Daou better straight from bottle. However after decanting and having th3 last glass later the Canvasback was much more interesting with much more complexity

Nice fruity wine, medium strength . Dill flavors and nice acidity on the finish. The tannins are quite dusty. That makes it a 90 wine instead of the 91-92 it could have been.
