  • I think that the Clos Pepe from Sta. Rita Hills is Siduri's best pinot. Right out of the bottle, the wine offers intense, complex aromas of tart cherry, earth, mushrooms, and violets. After an hour, these aromas knit together and combine with a bit of smokey oak to offer that satisfying pinot melange. Definitely a California wine, with power over finesesse, the wine still shows a silky texture, with refreshing acidity and low tannin. With its nicely balanced and extended finish, I enjoyed sipping this delicious wine although, after a while, the wine ceased to develop in the glass and I must confess that, unfortunately, I lost interest. I have had this experince with other Siduri wines as well. I've cellared a bottle of their Pisoni vineyard from the Santa Lucia Highlands and, perhaps this wine will continue to be more engaging.
