Mt tastebuds were initially assaulted by flavours of blackberry, tannins and black chocolate almost infused with chilli. The heat was pervasive with a bitter note on the finish. I accept though it’s not integrated or resolved and is still far too young. Perhaps it has a promising future but the prospects are all too murky at present.

Color is deep crimson with beginnings of aging on the rim. On the nose it's dark fruits, some of the eucalyptus I find in most quality Aussie shiraz. The palate is powerful fruitiness and some secondary notes, tobacco, tar. Not the best performing GAM I've had. The finish is long. There's clear sediment in the bottle and some stuck on the inside indicating a warm cellaring(?) and the wine seems to be peaking or past peak. Next time I'll buy a newer vintage to compare. Drink now.

Exceptional berry compote, rich & round mouth feel, great balance with a nice hint of oak. Soft tannins with great structure. Glad I have some 2017 laying down.

Better than expected, less sharp than expected. Drank with a barbecue. Went well.
