This wine is in a very special place right now but I’m not sure it will stay there long.
Just starting to show secondary characteristics on the nose and palate but the fruit was still in full bloom. Loads of herbals, earth, maybe a hint of mushroom, all surrounding this core of dark red berries. Such a beautiful wine.
Drank most of it while cooking and eating dinner. Came back to the last glass a couple hours later and it was a much simpler wine.
Pop it open and enjoy. Cheers!

I know nothing about Whistler Vineyard. I tried finding it on a map of the sprawling Sonoma Coast AVA, with no luck. Ultimately it doesn’t matter much, as the wine left me colder than a chihuahua in Norway. There’s nothing objectively wrong with it, but it’s all simple, candied fruit. There’s no structure, and it comes off as Pinot Noir Kool Aid.
I really like most Failla wines, but this is two thumbs down.

This wine is drinking well now with a nice balance of fruit and earthy undertones.
