If I remember to make a resolution when the ball drops in a few weeks (my only resolution this year was to have more resolutions in 2020), it will be to seek out more Cabernet Franc. I am an unabashed devotee to Chinon and the other Cab Franc areas in the Loire, but I have largely neglected the grape once I started this whole wine blog thing. And that is a shame. While this wine from Bill and Betsy Nachbaur is far more of a New World expression than it is a reminder of Rabelais, it still has that characteristic cranberry-on-the-verge-of-raspberry fruit. It also has a hint (but just a hint) of that Pyrazine (i.e., green pepper) aspect that I associate with the variety. Delightful. thedrunkencyclist.com
