Odds were that the item immediately preceding would put this at a disadvantage, but no. Age-appropriately scented of berries and seasoned cask. It’s worth falling into a cup of this drink. Blue fruits. Intricate weavings of spice and brined rosemary. Tannins, fine and fierce. (Why was I expecting coconut-flavored Nebbiolo?) Repetition: these tannins are accumulating and encroaching. It’s a dry, sticky micron-gauge velcro that nearly disables my palate. Repetition: Salty berry skin leather. Ripe black grapes collapsing in the sun. Library jam. 24 HOURS LATER: It’s a better drink, no surprise. The cross purposes of wood and fruit have now aligned. Ripe black grapes wilting on the window sill. The spices from vine and oak are now co-mingled and are presenting a profoundly pretty, melancholy narrative. I love it. I’m glad I have a few more bottles. The next one can wait until 2024.

Perfumed nose. Deep garnet color with slight brick rim. Full body. Very tannic. Dark fruit, marmalade, and cinnamon, but still very primary and young. Wouldn't touch again for 1-2 years.

Still very tannic. Lots of candied fruits can help on the nose with an earthy pallette. Will probably put away the last bottle until 2025

I don’t care for this. It has a taste of cigars and brandy or something. And it burns my throat.

Powerful ripe fruit and spice scent. Elegant body and plentiful fine tannins.
