Good wine. Passed it through a Vinturi Aerator and it's ready to go. Welcoming nose of raspberries, bubblegum (if there is smell to bubblegum), theme. Classic Tuscan body, obvious sangiovese character, abundance of red fruits, earth. Pity the finish is a little short, otherwise it would be a beautiful food wine. Having said that it was good on it's own.

Lots of earthiness character on the nose - leathers, soya sauce, dry leaves, banyard with some plummy aroma. On the palate it has firm yet powderly tannins mixed with flavours consist of orange peel, plums, blue berries and herbs. Good layer and somewhat expressive alcohol, the finish is quite short - which is common for 2003 Tuscan? Simple but quite enjoyable wine.

We were very unimpressed with this wine. I am unsure exactly what they did to this Tuscan wine to get such a boring and unimaginative flavor, or lack thereof, from the Sangiovese grapes, but whatever it was, they should write a book on how not to make a Tuscan wine. The food overpowered the flavor completely, so much so we didn’t even bother finishing the bottle.

Late May 2006: dark red ink; cherries, blackberries, peppermint and slight alpha-pinene aromas/flavors; smooth and round on the palate; full body; good finish.
