This is my second time trying this wine, and I did find extensive signs of seepage under the cap, with the cork slightly pushed out and soaked through, indicative of overheating during shipment. So this might explain some the oxidative and stewed fruit aromas. Despite this flaw, this was a most intriguing natural, organic, unfiltered bottle, which put out tons of sediment. This wine is quite polarizing, with some students really liking it and some affirmatively disliking it. Frankly, I wish I could try a more pristine and slightly younger bottle.

This is a very unique wine. Clear pale tawny in color, it is fairly thick and viscous. The nose is clean, complex and aromatic but very developed, with preserved black cherries, overripe plums, dried figs, sweet baking spices, medicinal herb, tropical flowers and caramel. The nose is slightly oxidized. The palate is off-dry and consistent with the nose. The acidity and tannins are medium, whereas the alcohol is high at 15.5%. It is full-bodied, almost Tawny Port-like red with medium (+) flavor intensity and a long, savory finish of herbs and licorice, almost like a Barolo Chinato. Frankly, I wish I had tried this 3-5 years ago to see whether 10-13 years of aging might be its optimal drinking window. As it stands, it's quite an oddity, since it is neither food friendly nor a dessert wine. More of a vino di meditazione.

Cloudy orange-red. Earthy aromas. Beguiling sweet cherry fruit, with good structure behind it. Don't think that this is still ascending. Drink now.
