Maybe I'm biased, since this eighteen-liter bottle was poured at my wedding reception (6/21/08). Surrounded by family, friends, loved ones, and my bride, I was very impressed with how well this showed. Proof that there is truth to the adage of wine aging slower in bigger bottles, this '95 Campaccio was deep and vibrant, showing none of the brick rim expected in a nearly 13 year old wine. Beautiful aromatic components of ripe cherry fruit were balanced perfectly with clove, anise, cinnamon, and a hint of black pepper. The palate was also harmonious, with dense, ripe fruit, wonderful spice and dried berry notes, and a smooth, supple, polished finish. The tannins were fully evolved, and the wine finished long and clean. My new wife and I received many compliments on the wine selection!

The wine has clearly reached maturity, evident be the wines garnet core and brick rim. The aromatics are subtle, but when coaxing them out of the glass; lovely aromas of dried herbs and dried tomatoes fallowed be some lively cherry and shitaki mushrooms. On the palate it is silky, possesing no tannin, but still some acid. there is a reassurance of dried tomatos, green bell pepper and a hint of hickory smoke. Finish is lingering. A decent bottle of wine. Interesting

As an addendum - I had lunch with Maja Guldener, daughter of Terrabianca's owner Roberto Guldener, today. I brought my 18L, no mean feat, as it filled nearly the entire trunk of my car, and she was kind to sign it for me! When I asked if I should save it for another 10 or 20 years, she gave the best response I've ever heard from a wine personality, "The best bottles are the empty ones!"

I've always been a fan of Terrabianca's wines, and was fortunate to meet Roberto Guldender, the owner, at a wine tasting. The following spring, I visited his booth at VinItaly, and had a great time tasting through all his wines (and olive oils) - spotted a dummy bottle of Campaccio in 18L and asked about getting one - took some legwork back in the US, but was able to special order my very own 18L Campaccio!
