Drunk this magnum over two weekends, using Coravin for the first half. Dark purple/garnet. Nose: very savoury style - tobacco, roasted meat and black pepper offset by some ripe blackberry. Palate: full bodied and intense but not overpowering, as expected for Torbreck. A well structured wine with firm tannins and a long finish. A great style of mataro. Excellent.

Q4 wine club - Rhone varietals that are not Syrah (The Apt): Wine #2: Drank as part of a blind tasting, but as this was one of our contributions I knew what it was. I always love this wine. Surrounded on either side by Christophe Baron funkiness, this is much more in the traditional fruit, spice, saddle leather model. I get strawberry and cherry and a kindof woodsy flavor to it. Had decanted for a few hours before drinking and this was in a wonderful spot. The overall groups favorite by a relatively large margin.
