First time with this wine. At 13.9%, looked interesting. Pulled from the cellar and as the wine warmed up, it unfolded. Nose is kind of tight but has some of hints of classic Pinot lift, and reminds me of the bouquet of the Melville Pinots, with a floral and flowery nose. The wine is medium bodied with nice raspberry and black cherry fruit. As I finished the first glass, I also thought of root beer, which is a cool note. The wine is moderately creamy and fleshy and as it came to room temperature, it closed up just a bit on the finish, which echoes black cherry fruit. What's nice about this wine, too, is that the presence of intrusive new oak is missing, which is a nice change. Look forward to another glass tomorrow. (BTW, Parker indicates this wine is a blend of Hirsch and Keefer declassified fruit--nice pedigree.)
