What a wine! Pulled the cork, shook some air into and recorked for 2 hr.
Opened at dinner and this was hitting on all cylinders for the first 30 min. Some apparent bricking, but tannins and oak have completely integrated. Damp forest floor, burnt embers, chocolate, cherry cola, dark chocolate covered cherries. Long finish. Drank well by itself and paired well with dinner.
Was a potential candidate for perfection, but this showed way more tertiary elements than expected and drank somewhat past its peak, particularly after 30 min where it fell off ever so slightly. Unless this was bottle variation, this is a drink sooner rather than later. Bought direct from the winery and stored properly so provenance was good.

PnP but drank best after 30 min and between chill temps and cellar temps. Out of the ice bucket, it was a little muted but as it warmed, voila!
A bit of ‘funk’ as in blue cheese (complimentary) on the nose led to a tropical fruit menagerie on the nose and palate. Melon, guava, pineapple, honeysuckle, key lime pie, some green apple appearing on the finish.
This was so good, I bought a six pack of the ‘21 during dinner between courses!

3/8/2023 11:51:00 AM - Yes, Tusk is a nice wine for your cellar. I also get The Eagle, Harlan, etc. and this wine hangs in with them. However, since I graduated Alabama....do you really want a wine with an Alabama Elephant on the front?.....LOL

Open for an hour before drinking.
In a word- delicious
Toasted brioche, roasted almonds, lemon meringue pie, citrus dominant, drank better as it warmed slightly.
