6/18/2015 3:47:00 PM - Thanks for the message -- San Antonio has indeed upped its wine game significantly since I got here in 2007. The restaurant scene however, has outpaced it immensely. There are tons of new, independently owned eateries, and a one of the country's 3 CIAs. What I haven't been impressed with is anyone really connecting the dots. There are as many cocktail pairing dinners (check out http://www.sanantoniococktailconference.com) as wine (SA loves its cocktails :). Few restaurants (other than various chain steakhouses) seem to boast impressive or smartly curated wine lists in my experience. But there is tons of urban development, and interesting, well sourced food of nearly every variety.
Again, thanks for the note and I hope you come to visit soon. If you do, send me a message for the best places to buy/sample. Kind regards :)
3/5/2015 9:13:00 PM - Highly recommend all the premium Puech bottlings btw - each a similar quality but different grape/blend. For me the basic wine is normally 88-91pts but the premium cuvées are 94-97pts.... Downside is that they are also 3x more expensive (though still good QPR in the scheme of things...)

2020 Cooper Vineyards Blondie
5/2/2024 - Z1nnfull Likes this wine: 90 Points
Cooper has made the three white Rhone varietals sing harmoniously
Taste is floral, not sweet-know the difference

Again, more pronounced varietal notes than Kim Crawford, worth the extra $
