1/3/2024 7:48:00 AM - Got your email! Tim, Thanks :-) Unfortunately, I am somehow locked out of that addres so couldn't respond. I will not be doing all that much drinking during the month of January and talking wine doesnt help. I will be in touch with you sometime in february...Hope the start to 2024 has taken a good course by then! Clarity calls...

7/3/2023 12:04:00 PM - Thanks for your comment.

  • Motz says:

2/23/2022 9:02:00 AM - Just entered a note on the 2019 Château Haut Beyzac, a Grocery Outlet purchase of excellent substance and balance.

  • Tim Heaton says:

11/28/2021 4:35:00 PM - hi, Tim. After 26 years in CO, I've re-established my base on Hutchinson Island, lmk if you pass this way.

  • Motz says:

12/16/2020 7:23:00 AM - Mornin' WT! I found a great, traditionally styled Bordeaux at Costco in eastern WA. 2015 Chateau Villambis. Worth seeking out.

  • Motz says:

6/19/2020 9:37:00 PM - I have it scoped out and am trying to source a bottle.

  • Motz says:

6/2/2020 5:51:00 PM - Just wrote a short treatise on Bordeaux in response to a community member's request regarding my recent note on the 2014 d'Armailhac.

  • macaujames says:

2/7/2020 11:14:00 PM - The Malescasse seems like another decent 2016. I also had the Labegorce which was impressive and the silky Langoa. However a lot of 2016 are light and innocuous at the moment.

  • Weinberg Falls says:

12/17/2019 4:01:00 PM - Thanks for the comment. Hardly any German red gets exported - often with good reason as it is either over-priced or lacking in finesse. Schneider seems to overcome both of those flaws pretty consistently though - hope you get to try it at some stage!

  • geoffjb says:

9/3/2019 9:40:00 AM - Thank you for your comment on the Concha y Toro. It's nice to get some validation on what I'm seeing/tasting—especially still being quite new to all of this. Enjoy your day!

  • vintage1949 says:

7/22/2019 6:42:00 AM - Thanks for the compliment. Remember buying a Lafite is only on rare occasions. What Aussies are you buying? If drinking a cab do you detect a different cab taste compared to California cabs? Just wrote a review under 2012 Ramey Syrah you may gat a kick reading. You’see if you read it. True story. Grin

  • vintage1949 says:

7/19/2019 8:15:00 PM - Greetings WineoTim, Wondering what you have been drinking lately. I opened a 2015 Pontet-Canet. Whew was that a baby! I did put a layer of gas over half the bottle-sorry slipped my mind what the gadget is called, to try again in a couple years. Buying some 2016 Bordeaux and then saving up some money for the 2018 California vintage. Taking an optimistic view of my lifespan and just treated myself to one bottle of 2016 Chateau Lafite Rothschild. Best Wishes-Dave

4/15/2019 8:16:00 PM - Very nice, looking forward to your tasting note! Just a heads up though, that wax seal is a pain.. it is really crumbly. Between melting the wax and just chipping it away.. I prefer chipping it clean away. I try really hard to not let any of the wax get into the wine.

  • jmcmchi says:

6/10/2018 4:03:00 PM - This may end up a duplicate - if so, apologies I had the St Henri at the winery, just before a RWT so can't answer your comment directly. (I preferred the St Henri on the day) Normally I'd get through the bottle at a sitting over dinner for two. Also, if you still have an interest in Four Flags, Costco have been selling the '14 and/or '15 at $46

  • jmcmchi says:

7/6/2017 7:59:00 PM - I bought the Davenport CS from the winery. Jeff tends to hold onto his reds before release, so they are generally more mature than many in the warehouse district. Solid and unpretentious stuff - his 14 fume blanc is pretty good too

  • jmcmchi says:

6/2/2017 4:55:00 PM - Thanks for your comment on Four Flags; it seems to be developing well from vintage to vintage. There is currently a four pack offer (two vintages) for members from the winery. Interesting that you reference Oz Clark; many years ago I was on the opposite side against his tasting team

  • Motz says:

4/17/2017 8:30:00 AM - Interesting that you commented on my 2013 Duckhorn Cabernet Sauvignon note during the same time that I caught a little flak for scoring the 2014 Myriad Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Crane Elysian what it deserved. One CT user compared my score of this wine to that one. Did you see the comments on my note for that wine?

  • gew71walsh says:

2/26/2017 7:45:00 AM - Appreciate your comment on 2008 Insignia. Was not disappointed, it is that I have come to love the evolution of Insignia about 10 to 15 years out. Used to drink young (and loved them). Also a friend opened a '94 a year or so ago (great year, stored properly), and I thought it no longer compared to its earlier years, particularly in the 2005-2010 period. Enjoy.

  • Motz says:

2/12/2017 8:10:00 AM - Mornin' WT! Just wrote a note on the 2010 Olga Raffault Chinon Les Picasses, a wine that will likely appeal to you.

  • bestdamncab says:

    12/22/2016 3:47:00 PM - I will give it a try-thanks for the heads up.

  • bestdamncab says:

12/20/2016 5:00:00 PM - I will dig out my notes for the 1977 and 1976, OK.

  • bestdamncab says:

    12/20/2016 12:56:00 PM - I have posted 3 notes on the Fay-2 from 1997 and the 2013.

  • bestdamncab says:

12/1/2016 6:56:00 AM - Great tasting notes on the 3 Bordeaux for Thanksgiving-well done!!!

  • bestdamncab says:

11/23/2016 12:02:00 PM - Another lovely Bordeaux Merlot is Chateau Clarke. I have enjoyed 5 vintages of it.

  • bestdamncab says:

10/6/2016 12:46:00 PM - Trefethen Double T in Florida from winesearcher.com says: Cork wine online in Orlando costs $18 Bevfly, Orlando and Babycham liquors, Hobe Sound costs $20.

  • Margaux Bro says:

8/24/2016 11:21:00 AM - LOL! I have little tolerance for trolls like that guy. I blocked him, which I believe will prevent his scores & tasting notes from ever showing up in my cellartracker.

  • bestdamncab says:

8/4/2016 6:31:00 PM - I have been to Chateau Latour twice-great wines-do you own the Chateau Latour book?

  • floridawinedrkr says:

8/4/2016 2:23:00 PM - I dont have the 2010 Haut-Bailly in NY with me but I just bought a half case of 2006's. I am drinking the 2006 tomorrow or saturday. I haven't had the 2010 in a while.

  • vintage1949 says:

    5/25/2016 6:49:00 PM - Yes-it is good stuff. Dave

  • tantotinto says:

5/10/2016 11:46:00 AM - Your earlier comment regarding the Seavey is correct. I have seen a fair amount of bottle variation but I would not put that just on Seavey. It seems the more I buy wine in volume the more bottle variation I notice in general, especially with red wines.

  • wineotim says:

5/1/2016 7:23:00 PM - I recommend any Seavey Cabernet you can get your hands on.

  • floridawinedrkr says:

5/1/2016 6:19:00 AM - Never tried any Seavey. What do you recommend?

  • floridawinedrkr says:

4/29/2016 4:02:00 PM - Let me know how the wine you got from Premier are. My friend runs the 3 global wine stores in Buffalo and gives me nuts prices on wine if he can get it. I got those 2010 Beringer reserves for $99. So if there is stuff you wants he will ship to you direct. Just let me know what you're looking for and Ill put you in touch with him. He only gets what the distributers currently have though so no older vintages.

  • floridawinedrkr says:

4/29/2016 2:31:00 PM - Im looking forward to drinking the 2010 Beringer private reserve also. It got delivered to Buffalo so I will drink it in 10 days when I get back there.

  • Motz says:

3/30/2016 10:43:00 AM - Do you use the CT forum? I am there with the same handle. Send me a note of you'd like.

  • vintage1949 says:

3/6/2016 5:32:00 PM - Noticed you have 2010 Château Grand-Puy Ducasse. Let me know years from know how it was. Please note I purchased a magnum of the 2014, but it will never match up to your 2010. I bought the 2014 magnums to take to more casual parties or as a wine to open before I open an expensive bottle. Try to keep-so I can serve great wine-a dinner party to 12 people including ourselves. We also have what we started calling appetizer parties where everyone brings something. Some of my friends have been driven and are incredibly successful in life-so there outlook is different than mine. At large parties they take at least a day to prepare a sit down dinner for 24 people. (We do not have that many tables in our house to do that. What is wonderful is everyone is extremely nice-are great friends-so who has the best house-best car-all of that garbage means nothing to us. Conversations can be enlightening which may guide me into a new direction of books to read or do further research. Take Care-Dave When I buy my bottles this spring of wines like Alta Colina will buy an extra bottle for you and ship it to you. I do that every year to one person on CellarTracker. Hey-one must spread the joy.

  • vintage1949 says:

3/6/2016 5:13:00 PM - Just bought 2014 Château Capbern 1 1.5 2014 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 1 1.5 2014 Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2 1.5 2014 Château Meyney 2 1.5 You can buy Alta Colina Estate Syrah Old 900 2011 at the Wine Exchange. I will also be buying some. These are rich full bodies Syrahs. They usually go for about $39 a bottle. One of my favorites but they do need decanting. Whoops-wines are from the 2014 vintage. Sorry about that.

  • wineotim says:

3/6/2016 10:38:00 AM - Thanks for the Alta Colina recommendation...looks nice, hard to get though. What Chateau's did you purchase in the '15 vintage?

  • vintage1949 says:

3/6/2016 8:24:00 AM - Hey happy to hear your cold is gone. Hope I did not make a mistake-bought six magnums of Bordeaux from the 2015 vintage. Some were very cheap and a couple in the more expensive range. 2015 was not a great year but I did not need what is considered great wine for parties where there are a lot of people. I am 66ashoild live until 76. Reason I am stating that as the 2015's will take some time to come around.Do you like Sarah's. Alta Colina has some great Syrahs. Happy to hear you are better. Hope I can make the last two weeks in Florida. That condo was out of our price range-but what the heck-at our age time to enjoy.

  • vintage1949 says:

3/5/2016 7:57:00 PM - Greetings. Thanks for the concern. I have what is called a cerebrospinal leak. We missed our Arizona trip. Should be in Florida now. Wow-I have had four spinal taps-at least four MRI CT scans. They can't find the darn leak so you get headaches like migraines. Between you and me I am thinking the leak is in my head near a nasal cavity instead of spine. So-sorry I have not been on the board much. How are you doing?

  • Motz says:

2/21/2016 6:56:00 PM - I've been looking for it. No joy yet.

  • floridawinedrkr says:

2/13/2016 3:06:00 PM - Tarzana Wines in california is where I got the 2010 Dunn.

  • floridawinedrkr says:

2/13/2016 2:35:00 PM - The 2010 Dunn Cab is tremendous. Great recommendation. I just ordered a case of it. Thanks!

  • ledocq says:

2/10/2016 4:45:00 PM - Looking forward to seeing your 2010 Senejac note. It's been two years -- I might break out another bottle (if I can find the case in my offsite).

  • Tarpon222 says:

2/5/2016 4:03:00 PM - I think Clos du Val cab has always been way underrated and I think it's that is relatively inexpensive. Good + inexpensive = GOOD THING!!

  • floridawinedrkr says:

1/31/2016 11:16:00 AM - I just ordered 2 of the 2013 Clos du Val Cab for $24.80 each. Ill give them a try.

  • floridawinedrkr says:

1/23/2016 4:23:00 PM - The 2010 Don Melchor was really really good! I will order more for sure. Great recommendation.

  • floridawinedrkr says:

1/23/2016 7:04:00 AM - Tim, Im drinking the 2010 Concha y Toro Cab tonight. How long of a decant should I give this?? And I drank a 2008 Stormy Weather last night from Hundred acre that was ridiculous. It was $110 and outstanding.

  • floridawinedrkr says:

1/14/2016 8:49:00 AM - Cool. I will order 2 of the Dunn now! Thanks.

  • floridawinedrkr says:

1/14/2016 3:40:00 AM - I ordered the 2010 online but they haven't come yet. When I was shopping at Whole Foods I saw the 2008 so I grabbed them. They were rated pretty high also. I was aware it was the 2010 you recommended.

  • floridawinedrkr says:

1/13/2016 5:11:00 PM - Thanks for the recommendation on the Concha y Toro Cabernet Sauvignon Don Melchor. I just picked up (2) 2008's at Whole foods. They had them on the shelf so I grabbed them.

  • bestdamncab says:

11/1/2015 5:34:00 PM - I think $50 for a Pine ridge Napa Cabernet Sauvignon is a great value.

  • floridawinedrkr says:

6/10/2015 7:31:00 PM - I would have it shipped early am Next day air. The wine would arrive fine even in Florida as long as someone is there to accept the delivery. I have wine shipped next day to me in Florida early am Next day air all year and it still arrives cold in the styrofoam package. But checking a bag on a plane is the best and cheapest way.

  • floridawinedrkr says:

6/10/2015 6:22:00 PM - My friends own the global group wine stores and he will ship "Clio" right to your house. They ship to me all the time. Let me know and I will have him email you so you have his contact info. He has 2 cases of Clio he just got in Friday he hasn't put on shelves yet.

  • floridawinedrkr says:

6/10/2015 5:50:00 PM - I thought your wife was getting a half case of Clio in Buffalo when she was here????

  • floridawinedrkr says:

6/4/2015 3:44:00 AM - My friends own the the 3 Global wine stores in Buffalo. I bought all of the Clio they had. They did get 24 more bottles in yesterday but they may not be available in the store on the shelves. Let me know if you are having trouble finding them and I will make sure your wife gets as many as you need. I have 59 bottles my self in Buffalo so you are welcome to my stash as well.

  • floridawinedrkr says:

5/23/2015 8:11:00 AM - Hey Tim - The 2012 Shafer One point Five was not at all what I expected. After about 5 hours of air it tasted like a bad Pinot. It literally tasted like a $20 bottle of wine. We couldn't even drink it. I was disappointed. I had high expectations. Hope you like your bottle better.

  • AMC Eagle says:

3/24/2015 8:48:00 PM - Hi wineotim, there is the Santa Fe Wine Festival during the 4th of July this year if you would like to try out some good New Mexican wines.

  • pianist718 says:

2/17/2015 12:12:00 PM - So it was you?? you cleaned them out??? :-) that was an awesome deal. I would buy everything they had. At $14 beautiful. If you find a similar bottle, please let me know.

  • pianist718 says:

2/17/2015 6:46:00 AM - I also love that 2007 Three Saints Sixty-Seven Red Blend wine and it's so sad that I can't find it anywhere locally or even remotely local. Only from CA and with shipping that price is around $26/bottle. How well are you stocked on it and maybe you know where one can find this bottle closer to east coast?

  • tim m says:

1/5/2015 6:44:00 PM - Per your question, no, I don't work at Honeywell in Olathe. Live close to there though.

  • wineotim says:

9/20/2014 5:26:00 PM - Here was my review of the 05 Dauzac...tasted on 12/19/2009 - I WROTE: 90 points Dark and inky, deep berry and earthy flavors are contained by tight and chalky tannins... a long dry finish.

  • Johnfromspokane says:

9/20/2014 4:30:00 PM - Have you perhaps ever had the chance to try a dauzac on a good year? One of the better QPR margauxs I have enjoyed.

  • Mootsie says:

12/5/2013 4:09:00 PM - The '08 is my favorite wine and Jaffurs my favorite domestic producer, if you didn't already figure that out by my cellar. ;)
