4/17/2023 8:19:00 AM - Would you like to hook up the next time we are in naples?

11/24/2021 3:27:00 AM - Hello FWD. I am a Fan of your profile and tasting notes. I see that you are in Naples. Now that America is once again allowing Europeans and Brits into the USA (vaccinated ones, anyway!), the wife and I are headed to Naples on December 1st for about 3 months to get away from our winter's chill. While there it would be a pleasure to share an occasional bottle of something decent with like minded oenophiles. To that end I have sent you a Friend request (to you and one or two others in Naples). Would you be open to that? Cheers.

9/24/2018 9:38:00 AM - floridawinedrkr, there are a number of bottles of the 2012 Asura available within PA right now through the state store. If you want, I can buy a few extra and arrange shipping down to you? At $200 it sounds like a pretty good deal.

9/9/2016 12:42:00 PM - floridawinedrkr, I am BLOWN away by your collection. It seems we have very similar tastes. I do have one recommendation for you if you like Syrah as much as I do. Perhaps you've heard of it, but I didn't see it in your list. Favia Erickson is amazing with a little age on it. They have several blends, and all are delicious. Cheers!

4/30/2016 6:02:00 AM - Wow, thanks for the info...BTW are you familiar with Seavey? Hard to find, but well worth it. The Caravina is their "second" ($50) wine, have you tried any Seavey Cabs? ($100)

  • wineotim says:

4/29/2016 3:10:00 PM - Ok, BTW...earlier this month I mail ordered two bottles of wine from Premier in Amherst. A '10 Seavey Caravina and a '10 Switchback Ridge Petite Syrah.

4/29/2016 2:02:00 PM - I will be interested in your review of the 2010 Beringer Cab. Reserve. It has been on my radar.

3/23/2016 1:19:00 PM - Hi Floridawinedrkr, I received a bottle of 2004 Winter Cab Sav last year as a gift but dont know much about this producer. Their website does not look like it has been updated for a while....in fact I am not even sure if the winery is still active. How did you stumble on this wine? Can you share anything you know about this producer? Thanks in advance! Jo

2/17/2016 10:34:00 AM - Hello, I just got a 2012 Lokoya Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon 100 Pts and I'm trying to sell it. I thought you could give me some advise maybe. I am german and in Vancouver for studying right now. Thank you! Cheers Ole

2/11/2016 7:26:00 PM - hello. do you mean 97 napa valley reserve from harlan?

  • wineotim says:

1/14/2016 8:44:00 AM - I will be looking for your Melchor reviews! BTW I opened a Dunn Cab. Howell Mtn '10 last week. It was incredible.

  • wineotim says:

    1/14/2016 3:00:00 AM - Glad you got the Don Melchor....but I recommended the '10.

10/29/2015 6:45:00 PM - Hello floridawinedrkr.......thanks for being a fan. Nice to know you're in Naples also. Maybe we can crack a few bottles open one day. We are avid Napa travellers having been out there 3 times this year alone. Always open to enjoying an evening and a great bottle of wine!

10/23/2015 9:26:00 AM - Floridawinedrkr, thank you for becoming a fan! I noticed your interest in Napa and Cabs, a very good combination! Fortunately for all of us, the 2012 through 2015 vintages should result in some outstanding wines. My focus is more on the value side of wines so I tend to stop tasting and buying around $200/bottle. Some wineries to consider for future visits, Jarvis, Palmaz and Quintessa. Some excellent Cab's can be had at these wineries along with Seavey, Chappellet and Stag's Leap Cellars.

10/18/2015 12:35:00 AM - Hello floridawinedrkr, thanks for becoming a fan! May I ask your reason? I am asking out of curiosity. I checked your notes, wish I could have access to those fabulous American wines... By the way, in 2003 I had an eventful visit to Buffalo: I was visiting NYC and I learnt that Bob Dylan was playing there together with the (Grateful) Dead. I had to be there! So I booked a flight without realising how difficult it would be to actually reach the venue and come back. We hitch-hiked with my girlfriend, met interesting people, saw the concert, and even managed to be at the airport on time to catch the flight back to NYC. It was one of the memorable adventures in my life. Cheers!

10/9/2015 2:08:00 PM - Hi floridawinedrkr Thanks for contacting me. My two neighbors are from Brockport NY and we live in Shadow Wood. I am a big Bordeaux lover (you may have noticed from my cellar). I see you have a CA focus.

9/30/2015 8:07:00 AM - Enjoy your trip, especially the tastings. Let me know how the dinner goes. My wife and I are "foodies" be interesting to see what you think of the meal with the wines. I should think it will be terrific.

  • ddmhunter says:

9/29/2015 8:50:00 AM - I was planning a trip to CA to stock up on Cabs, I think I'll just raid your cellar instead!:)

  • Rick 4 Wine says:

9/26/2015 1:41:00 PM - Hi there! Thanks for becoming a fan. Looking at our tastes, we have some overlap, especially in Cali Cabs. Look forward to seeing what you're drinking.

9/18/2015 7:55:00 AM - Thanks for becoming a fan. It sounds like we think alike regarding wine. Two of my children and two of my grandchildren live in Naples. We are down often. Cheers!

  • awineo says:

9/6/2015 10:52:00 AM - I am a HUGE PASO Convert. The wines are outstanding and about half the price of Napa. I suggest you try Paso Port Wine Company, Lone Madrone (my two favorites) , Adelaida, Denner, Justin, and Vina Robles (be sure to check out the Ampitheater for shows when you are there).

  • difran says:

9/4/2015 10:37:00 AM - hey floridawinedrkr - great cellar, lots of nice California selections - lets get you some more Paso Robles wine - Saxum is great, but there are plenty more to be had from there! Cheers!

6/10/2015 7:21:00 PM - It is too hot to ship to FL now, she is going to bring it back in her checked luggage. Or did you mean Global would deliver to her house in WNY?

  • wineotim says:

6/10/2015 6:12:00 PM - Yes, she is getting six bottles, but not until the end of June, that is when she flies to Buffalo.

  • kcsteve says:

6/8/2015 2:24:00 PM - Hello from the Midwest! Saw you became a fan of mine and I look forward to sharing tasting notes. My cellar is mostly French, Italian and the Western US. Italy is my true love. But my cellar has a little of everything because I like to try and have fun, just like you do. I generally won't pay Burgundy prices and I've become an Oregon Pinot lover. Love Chappellet cabs, Denner Syrah, and anything else that makes me happy! Welcome!

5/28/2015 3:57:00 PM - I look forward to seeing your comments; I too am a Shafer fan and we lean toward California; that being said, we have enjoyed other parts of the world's contributions, some spectacular. Italy is great; given your leanings, you might want to look seriously at Spain; fruit and value. mactheknife

5/15/2015 3:53:00 AM - Hey FloridaWineDrkr. Denner, SummerWood, Asuncion Ridge, J Dusi, Adelaida Cellars, Clayhouse (only their best stuff), Justin (only their best stuff) and Tablas Creek Vineyard. Go a little further South for Demetria, Sea Smoke and Sandhi. All winners. We personally adore Denner and SummerWood! Others excellent.

  • BuzzzzOff says:

5/14/2015 8:43:00 PM - Hey FloridaWineDrkr. Interesting focus. You should look into some of the Paso Robles wines, which are mostly Rhone-blends for an interesting change to the Cabs and Merlots. We also love Sangiovese! If you stumble across a Gusbourne Estate Chardonnay from Kent, England, buy and sip. Outstanding! Everyone is making great wines now. Grace Vineyards in Northern China pumping out an excellent Chardonnay.

5/11/2015 3:06:00 PM - Hi. Its nice to see people coming to and from Western NY. I used to drink a lot of West Coast Cabs and Cab blends when living on the West coast. I have some selected vintages and think Plumpjack is also still a relative bargain. Ridge estate Cabernet is a steal too along with Chappallet. I have a mostly european cellar with Bordeaux, Italy, Burgundy, the Rhone River valley, both Northern and Southern, Champagne and stickies from Alsace?tokaji/Sauternes, Germany along with some Spanish and a mix of other areas. I think it would be great to synch up some wine dinners. I have a BIL in the Buffalo area so making it to a comfortable place is always easy. In a few years I may be a floridawinedrinker too. My wife's sister is in Orlando. Moving the cellar is the hard part as well as giving up my micro vineyard, that I am just replanting and upgrading to almost all riesling.

  • wineotim says:

1/8/2015 2:27:00 PM - Thanks for the reply...I agree we have to stick together. I am mostly into Bordeaux. But Harlan, Shafer, Schrader, and Bond are on my bucket list !! I also found your opinion on Mondavi Reserve Cab very interesting, I have had a few vintages and always love it.

  • floridawinedrkr says:

1/8/2015 2:09:00 PM - I still travel to Buffalo twice every month. Still have a home there also. Buffalo people have to stick together.

  • wineotim says:

12/29/2014 5:13:00 AM - I am originally from the Buffalo area, I noticed you were there in one of your tasting notes...cheers.
