DKWINS nailed most of the notes on his 2017 notes that I observed. Highly recommended. Beautiful nose of charred meat, slight floral, and cooked game/meat notes. An excellent blend of Syrah, Merlot, Cab had some nice tannins still lingering and improved throughout the night. Certainly closer to the end point than the beginning on this wine but I really thought this was in a nice spot and enjoyed it. I have one left that I assume will be consumed in the next year.

Beginning to show a bit of age. Dark purple garnet, browning edges, opening slowly with air but holding at a peak for a relatively short period of time. Dark fruit, mocha, bramble, some softness, medium length.

This was not as good as previous tastings. Powerful dark fruit, but harsh and less pleasant heat. My last bottle of 2008, which is fine. I have some 2015 and look forward to comparing a previous value favorite from a great winery.

This got better over the course of 3 nights. Seemed a little one-note the first evening, gained complexity over time. Not the phenomenal bottle I remembered from 2 years ago, but pleasant experience to be sure.

This is my kind of wine. Very full bodied, but drinking beautifully and extremely smooth. Mostly syrah, well structured and not jammy. Drinks like a much more expensive cab.

Fantastic! Served with chicken marsala and grilled vegetables. Great balance- deep notes of blackberries and plum, nice touch of oak. Agree with Mactheknife, the bottle was emptied far too fast!

Full bodied with bursting black fruit. Plum, blackberry and black cherry surrounded by spice. Still drinking a little hot, but I question whether it will actually calm down any further. Firm tannins but very enjoyable now. My vote is to drink it now-2018. Sooner rather than later. Shows some tar on the nose as well. Drank well on day two also.

Decanted 1.5 hours. Massive fruit along with chewy meat. Very big wine, enjoyed more by my friends than myself (though I still enjoyed, I gave it a bonus point due to the love from others).

Full bodied; black and blue fruit; a slight touch of black pepper. This wine has aged nicely and appears to have a long way to go. It is consumed way too easily!

Ripe blackberry and spices on the nose. Tons of ripe blackberry, oak, smoke, and alcohol on the palate. I probably would have loved this ten years ago but now it just seems like too much of everything.

(A-) Giant, fat syrah blend. Deep purple color. Huge nose as soon as cork is popped. Blueberries, graphite, and vanilla. A lot of oak here, but not quite a vanilla monster. A bit of cherry from the cab/merlot component, with tons of fat and a bit of smoke. A bit of pepper in back, but this is mostly a front-side palate wine. Still with big tannins.

Right out of the decanter...smoke, oak, almost vanilla notes in the nose. Deep purple. Nice and smooth in the mouth, I get smoke, oak, pepper, and a hint of blackberry on the palate...
The wine looks Purple colored. The legs are Medium. It smells like Oak, Vanilla, and Light toast. It tastes like Oak, Black Pepper, Light toast, and Blackberry. The body is Medium/Full. The wine is textured Smooth. The wine finishes Medium.

Beautiful deep, rich purple in the glass, with a skunky S. Rhone nose of pepper and mushrooms. Surprisingly thin in the mouth, but very nice, chewy tannins and a spicy palate make this a repeat performance for me. Could use a little more elegance and clarity of flavors, but a real pleasing powerhouse.

Outstanding wine; great value. Rich dark blackberry, and would rate slightly higher without heavy tannins, but very powerful and enjoyable.

it's too safe ... kind of in the middle of the road ... it's all there as one would expect from Lewis, but just nothing that jumps out as unique
