I can vouch for it: Here we are in 2024 with a 21-year-old blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with a little Sangiovese and dollops of other Bordeaux blend grapes. It is still fresh with ample body. Fruit has declined off of the earlier peak but it is still a very rich wine, similar to a Left Bank Bordeaux with a bit of Sangiovese tartness that makes it stand up to tonight's Wagyu ribeye.

Shocker! Wine was in my “over the hill” area In my cellar; and it was far from over the hill! Decanted for 1 hour and drank it over a 3 hour time frame and it was solid throughout.
Nose - berry/cherry and floral, like tulips - subtle
Mouthfeel - medium weight and had characteristics of an old vine burgundy, but heavier.
Finish - smooth and sweet.
Cannot believe this helps up for 17+ years!

Pretty nice at the currently discounted auction price. Dark ruby, somewhat translucent on the edges. Ripe red fruit nose. Sweet on the entry, still has enought tannins to hold it up with a slight touch of pepper and dried spice on the finish. Still drinking nicely after it's published prime.

Popped this at our Halloween party and everyone was blown away by it! Really nice fruit, with some unexpected acidity and a long finish. Dark and heavy, then followed with a lovely midpalate. Great QPR.

Brill's 28th Birthday Bash (My Crib - Logan Square, Chicago): Lovely essence of terroir. Never dissapointed with Bob Long's wines. Awesome unique black licorice, charred wood and rock, blackberries and fresh road tar. Palate is gorgeously structured with a superb mouth feel, excellent acidity and well integrated tannins. More dark blackberry fruit, black lava rock and anise flavors.

5/09 Dark fruit - tight finish - off-balanced and young - evolved over time showing chocolate notes -better to decant for hours - needs another 5 years. 89 pts

My last bottle of this and it did not disappoint. As others have noted, the sangiovese is the distinguishing element in this wine. Decanted for 90 mintues and consumed alongside a perfectly cooked filet mignon and roasted brussels sprouts. Good value for the money.

Dark, rich purple to the rim. The Sangiovese dominates the nose, sweet and spicy. Tastes of jam, spice, cedar with the distinct Does have a sweet finish that some don't like. Still strong and could last a few more years.

This wine is pretty massive , lots of forest floor types of aroma's and tastes. truffel's , pine cones ....... This is a very well made wine , i am afraid it is just so massive that it doesnt work all the time forme. had with a very tastey fried calamarie w/ fried italian green peppers and veal parm ( the wine worked ) , a few days later popped another bottle with dinner after a different wine with apps and it was just too much .Safe to say this is a very nice bottle of wine

Decanted a full 2 hours and paired with spaghetti and meatballs. Very dark with beautiful red rosy edges. Aroma of alcohol, smoky tobacco, red berries like strawberry/raspberry. Very smooth, velvety/silky with red berry flavors. Chalky undertones. Aged very well, nice round balance yet still bold. Only drawback is it is pricey just because of the name on the bottle.

An interesting blend. Mostly bordeaux varietals with a bit of sangiovese mixed in as well. Dark color and very young. This one was very tight and only opened up in the glass a few hours later. There is potential for it to be very good in a couple of more years. Decanted for a few hours, this may have been great.

Deep tanzanite color leads to a somewhat muted nose of cherry and spice. The palate shows cherry, black plum, currant, and spice. The prominant tannins last 20 to 30 seconds. An enjoyable bottle of wine. I recomment decanting for 2 hours.

Very spicy nose. Over the next 1.5 hrs, the spicy aroma dissipated. Overall, a nice bottle of wine. For the price? Well, IMHO, I would buy another bottle.

First bottle was horrifically corked; this one may have been a little off too. Not decanted, drank over 1.5 hours. Nose of wild berries, licorice. On the palate, strawberries, raspberries, earth, leather, licorice. Some edges. Likely better score with time. Will hold my second for a couple of years. Compared to other Cali Super-Tuscans prefer Bacio. Did not evolve signficantly after the first 20mins.

This is a balanced blend. The front is lush and smooth, the mid doesn't disappoint, and its lingers long enough to reward. Very pleasant, went well with grilled t-bones. Glad I have a few more.
