I tasted this back before Christmas and was disappointed. In true WO fashion, this wine is richly rewarding a little patience.
Medium ruby red. Really expressive red fruit aromas. Light and lively on the palate with complex rasberry, cranberry fruit flavors. Lingering aftertaste. This will probably continue to improve for the next year or so before reaching a very satisfying plateau. Nicely done!

Last had this a year ago and the extra year in the bottle has really allowed the wine to settle down nicely but I think it could still use a little more time.

Way too soon; angular, a bit bitter on the finish. Has the goods, but even this (their shortest in oak) still needs plenty of time to resolve the tannins and oak...as in another 2+ years.

A very good wine which is easy to drink. Tastes of cherries and cranberries with a touch of vanilla. The finish is spicy may be a little alcoholic but doesn't overwhelm the wine.

The nose is light, but typical of the Windy Oaks style. On the palate there's loads of cola, with hints of cherry, cranberry and spice. It's balanced, light on the oak with a tasty if fairly quick finish.

Raspberry jam, pistachios, orange peel, cedar/damp pencil shavings. Burst of acidity, silky texture, and vanilla in the mouth. Ends with fine and light tannins which dissipate quickly. A medium finish. Simple and straight forward, but well made. Elegant. The next day it is a little bit rounder in the mouth

Needs some time to settle. Tight, angular, some heat on the back end. There is nice light fruit lurking, this should be good in six months. Very light red in the glass, almost a transparent pink.

My first note on this was from a simple tasting at the winery, which prompted me to pick up a couple bottles. This time around I got to spend the evening with the bottle to get the full experience. Fans of Windy Oaks will really enjoy this new, low priced, offering. It shares many of the same characteristics as it's higher priced siblings but is slightly more fruit forward with a slightly lighter, racier, style without much oak influence. We did not decant the wine and it perhaps could have used maybe a quick splash decant for 30 minutes or maybe just give the bottle a couple of more months to rest as it was just recently bottled and needs some time to relax.

Windy Oaks Open House (Windy Oaks Winery): A new, low priced, offering by Windy Oaks. This is fairly simple and straight forward but still has nice fruit, good acidity and a surprisingly long finish. At $23, this is a great value and represents the winery's lineup quite well at this entry level price point. 13.9% abv.

Lighter with less intensity than other Windy Oaks Pinots, but still very nice. Excellent purity and transparency, with a core of nice fruit on the mid-palate. Very versatlie food wine. Similar in style to a Rhys Alesia pinot.

Santa Cruz Mountain & Santa Clara Valley Tastings: Light in color. Nice cherry nose. Light on the palate, with ripe cherry fruit, adequate acidity and a nice spicy, clove component.

Nose of raspberry. Nice taste, but a step down from Windy Oaks' other Pinots.

Very good, as if Windy Oaks wasn't already a steal for the quality, this has great QPR and the potential to age.
