Cellared since release. Like the 2006 Scallop Shelf, a horribly dry, crumbly cork; had to strain. Decanted for a an hour. Red fruit, some raspberry. Polished. Very tasty.

Paired with Ellen's take on Patrick O'Connell's(The Inn at Little Washington, VA) Duck with Foie Gras. A savory Pinot Noir that worked well with the dish. From magnum, decanted for 2 hours. Reticent bouquet. The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like cherry and mineral. The body is full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

Deep garnet in color. Nose of raspberry. Cherry and strawberry on the palate, with tannins still there but soft and smooth. A little heat on the finish

After a decant and immediate pour, a delightful but (perhaps) straight forward wine. 2 nights later after vacuum vin in the cellar it was dramatically improved! Bright red fruits on the nose, wonderful lush mouth feel. Quite a surprise! Conclusion - give it some time.

Pretty good. Opens quickly to dark cherry fruit and some warm baking spices, nice full mouthfeel with some softening tannins. The oak has absorbed nicely and now manifests in a molasses note, but it's not overdone and this wine drinks like a ripe, modern-styled Burgundy. With the Tobiases, our place, and we all enjoyed this.

Lovely pinot and our first of the '06 vintage that was purchased on release. Not overly fruit-driven and seemed to be predominated by spice notes on the nose. Light-to-medium body and medium finish. Delightful.

Very nice wine. On the nose: strawberries, raspberries, some floral notes. Mellow tannins and nice fruit. A well made wine. Unfortunately, this wine is not possible to buy in Sweden.....

Once upon a time, I might have described this as a medium- to light-bodied pinot, but it's showing its rich side tonight (and this is after an 06 August West Graham). Nonetheless, it's still well-balanced, if lacking just a bit of acid as seems typical for the vintage. The nose shows wet underbrush, pine, orange pekoe, floral notes, and crushed berries. Sweet berries and licorice flavors miss some complimentary high-toned flavors, but this is still a well-made wine with a sneaky finish. Atypical for a Peay, this drinks just a bit boozy at 14.2%, but only a bit. Overall, this is a complex, and very youthful wine that drinks well now because of fruit aplenty. I do think this wine has real upside. I'd give this a few years minimum (and I won't do the same for most 06's).

This is extremely elegant with a perfect blend of mushroom, earth, and fresh rasberries and blackberries. I can't imagine American pinot getting better than this.

Medium light bodied - garnet color - flavors of black cherry, spice, subtle red raspberry, strawberry, dusty rose and slight earthiness, with hints of vanilla toast; fine grained tannins throughout.

Opened not decanted. Slightly corked. Funky nose with black licorice; showing age with a 1/4" clarity at the edge of the glass. Funky earthy tastes with a touch of cardboard; lots of dry cherry fruit with a very dry finish, ending with some heat. Fair to Good.

Amazing flavor profile of rasberry and strawberry compote. Very well balanced with an elegant finish. Not what I was expecting. More restained and less over the top than my preconceived notions. Very young but a great wine if you enjoy young fruit. I hesitate to use the word "Burghundian". I would call it non-typical fruit bomb cali pinot instead.

HUGE amounts of structure and richness for a pinot. But still with nice strawberry and some jammy flavors. Drinking well now but could still take a few more years.
UPDATE: tasted again 1 and 2 days later and still VERY good. Almost Burgundian in style.

Translucent garnet. Aromas of black cherries, strawberries, bark, spices and earth. Palate follows aromas - still with lots of fruit but also with some earthiness, bark flavors, cinnamon, clove. Good acidity. Nice long finish with ripe fruit and that spicy bark thing. Just a hint of heat on the finish-very well made except for that heat. As the night went on, the fruit seemed to get riper throughout the night. 14.2% abv.

Opened not decanted. Raspberry citrus on the nose. This is still a tight wine with predominate oak and reticent fruit on opening and doesn't give much up with some air. I have to admit that I may not have the patience to wait for these wines as I have not been ordering since the 06 release. From reading posts by other people, these need 5-7 years and should probably be treated like a CA cab. Unfortunately, I prefer drinkers that I can consume earlier (3-5 from vintage). Good at this point, with a dry, reticent fruit and and spicy finish.

Muted nose that was the least interesting part of the wine, but the mouth and length are quite present, with dried cherries and ashy dirt. Round, balanced mouth that is still quite fleshy. This bottle imroved quite a bit over the 2 oe 3 hours that it was consumed, starting strident, shutting down a bit, and then coming back as a "true pinot."

Score is for the second day. The first, it was somewhat closed, with good concentration and medium to light weight and flavors of red cherries and red currants with hints of plum. The next day, richer, with plummy fruit. Clearly needs another 6 months.

disappointedly too new world for me. nose speaks to the sonoma coast with bing cherry, baking spices, orange peel, with some etoh on the nose. in the mouth, the etoh becomes more prominent but is not surpassed by the heavy handed use of oak. red fruits continue. minerals on the palate as well. finishes minerally and clean, although a bit short. i was hoping for more.

06 Pinot: Lots of smokey toasty oak. Vanilla and grilled bread too. More toast, oak and some sweet fruit. Some aggressive oak in the mouth. Not my style, changed little in a couple of hours.

Raspberry, graham cracker, and bing cherry aromas draw you in. Generous black cherry flavors, alternatively tart, tangy, and sweet, brings you to a finish with a wisp of vanilla oak, and fresh, vibrant acidity.

($52) 14.2% ABV. Pretty nose of high toned cranberry fruit along with brown spices sort of along the cinnamon and clove line. Looking back at the winemaker's notes, she suggested sandalwood, which fits. Medium bodied with bright Ranier cherry fruit and something like blood orange citrus.. In a slightly higher-toned style. Good. For some reason this did not show particularly well the subsequent day after spending the night in the fridge under argon.
