Tasted non blind. Opened and served immediately. Followed over several hours.
Dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of dishwater, rose petals and mixed red fruit. Flavors of cherries, raspberries and rhubarb pie. Medium acidity, medium tannin, medium to full bodied. Drink over the short term.

Odd experience; on the surface lots of medicin cabinet going on here, the alcohol seems a bit much, but underneath there is loads of ripe, fresh fruit, if anything, this is to young, still, an odd showing for a 2006. Very much in douvbt here, my only bottle, had I more, I would opt to keep them and hope...

Hot mess. The only fruit that comes through is raisined, yet I wouldn't say this wine was damaged in any way. The alcohol is dominant above all else, and it doesn't even have a decent mouthfeel or finish. Waste of money, unfortunately.

Sweet ripe dark floral fruit. Stewed spiced plums, licorice, also with some dried herbs. Very fresh, quite hot from alcohol, good primary fruit on the palate with firm tannic structure, making this a very drinkable wine at this stage.

Gigondas, Featuring Les Pallieres '05-'07 (Vin Vino, Palo Alto): Candied red fruit, quite perfumed already. Medium to lighter weight. Gentle wine without a great deal of tannic or acid structure. Some oak is obvious but not intrusive. Prototypical mixture of red fruit and green Provencale herbs, lovely lingering finish. I liked this '06 also even though personally, I could do without the wood.

The nose had licorice and pencil lead, black currant, and some toast at the end. The palate was soft, and had pepper and licorice, black currant, cherry, and a very good graphite finish.

Staff Favorites (Farpointe Cellar): The nose had lots of graphite and plum, a little red currant, and some toasted oak at the end. The palate was very soft, and had pencil lead, licorice, plum, and a creamy oak finish.

Medium ruby with licorice scent. Medium weight. Very pretty, pure red raspberry fruit gains fragrance as it opens along with complicating garrigue notes. The fruit is very reminiscent of Charvin wines. Just lovely feel and balance between fruit and gentle tannin. I really liked this and its structure makes it a terrifically accessible wine now.

This wine was great! It's a blend of Grenache (50-year-old vines), Syrah, and Mourvèdre (75-year-old vines). It is powerful and elegant with a good balance of black fruits, tobacco notes and touches of wood spice.
Color is opaque red, unfiltered, and dark. Aroma is a punch of dark fruit, baking spice notes, and a boy scout smokey shirt note. Medium bodied, with a great spice kick for meals you need to match to, like those with peppers. Tannins are supportive, with a good tanginess and balance. Very high energy wine with 14.5% (yea, right, more like 16%) alcohol.

I'm close to 89, but other people would definitely go higher than 90! I'm having some difficulty with this type of wine. I prefer wine from the northern Rhone as those from the south tend to end up being too sweet and too high in alcohol. Perhaps this wine will benefit from some aging, which will take the top of all the fruity sweetness and add some ageing-complexity to the wine. Compared to most Gigondas-wines this is very good, though.

taste: very firm but silky tannins with tones of red and black fruits along with some garrigue
overall: A very polished and elegant Gigondas. Nice firm tannins that should shed with some age providing a nice red fruited attack and black fruited finish

One of the highlights of the wines I tasted in Gigondas, although the overall price quality of gigondas is very good. I bought three bottles of this and of "grand-romane" 2005. Rating? difficult, flirting with 90pts but should retaste in normal conditions

Big, dark and fairly open from the start. A bit hot, but still holds it well. Drinks nicely at this point, not a lot of evident tannons..
