Dark cherry, liqueur, brambles, plum jam, baking spices, pot pourri, wet earth, marzipan - aromatic, but towards the dark and concentrated end of the spectrum. Milky, rich mouthfeel with a piercing line of acidity. Grippy tannins that become more prominent with time in the glass. Interesting and well executed, with room for further upside.

Nuanced and layered with juicy, ripe blackberry pomegranate, spice box, orange peel, fungi, earth and sassafras. The nose is perfumed and foral while the palate is elegant with silky, polished tannins while remaining energetic and fresh with balanced acidity. Fantastic qpr and expression of WV PN fruit. Drinking well now with a couple years left.

In some ways this seems more reticent on the second night than it did on the first. Nicely earthy, and quite structured, with fine but definitive tannins. Good acidity. Moderate spicebox flavors. Will be interesting to see how it develops.

Very deep ruby red in colour. Nose shows bouquet of red fruits, wild raspberries, pomegranates and cherries. Delicious red fruits with supple tannins on the palate, there's also some spice and complexity, and plenty of freshness and length on the finish. Really well balanced and amongst the most compelling examples in its category from a benchmark producer.

Blind tasted. Tasted like Burgundy Pinot noir mixed with natty, high-tone Fleurie style. Didn’t nail it at first since hadn’t tried any Oregon Pinot before. Called OR Pinot 2019. Oregon/Burgundy producer made sense since it combined fruit forward, red fruit, black fruit, granite, floral with medium, soft tannins. The sweet oak was the best indicator? Opened up a bit and showed notes of rose petal and sassafras. Called 14% alcohol. Warm vintage. Very fresh with a zippy acidity and deep ruby. Excellent wine.

In a good place now, and may mature and round out further over the next years. Nice acidity and intensity, an extravert nose of strawberries and raspberries with some earthiness to it, followed by a beautiful mouthfeel and flavors of summer berries, honey, hay, some friendly spice in the lingering after taste. All in all a really nice combination of new world Pinot with old world soul.

Had this last night. Didn't take notes, but this was a lovely, young Oregon pinot. Nice mix of fruit (cherry, red plum) and savory (e.g., earth, spice) notes. Good intensity, medium bodied, elegant, nothing out of place. I think this needs time still, but nice with some air now (B+/A-).

Clear light ruby color. Fresh bouquet and taste of ripe cherries. Atypical for an Oregon Pinot Noir, as it is more fruit forward and lacks the earthy edge that I associate with the Willamette Valley wines. It is not a very complex wine, and it lacks depth, but its light body and fresh fruitiness make for an enjoyable wine.

Clear, medium ruby. Med intensity red cherry, tart black cherry, red plum, violets, dried herbs and some oak spice. Dry, nicely structured, with vibrant acidity, med tannins and high (14.1%) but well integrated alcohol. Med+ body, flavor intensity and length. A really nice value, it straddles the fence between Old World finesse and earthiness and New World fruit and oak. Not quite as good as some previous vintages, but a great value nonetheless. Drink in the next few years.

14.1% alcohol; heavy foil, monogrammed real cork with a maximum of 3 mm wine penetration, a hint of fruit still clinging to it; the pale burgundy colored wine has long legs; opened and tasted right away at room temperature -- 26 degrees C; the nose exudes stone fruit, especially sweet/sour cherries and deeper hints of a fruit which may not exist in nature; full bodied, well balanced, complex wine with a balance slightly tilted toward fruitiness, sweetness and sourness, in that order; tannins are subdued right through the long finish; an especially food-friendly wine -- we had it with gazpacho, wild-caught melt-in-the-mouth Pacific Coho salmon, asparagus and fragrant fresh home-baked bread prepared by Culinary Escapes, berry cobbler with a scoop of Haagen-Dazs on top, a celebration, with two friends from the Vero Beach Green Market, of the cook's continuing recovery from a fractured femur; the poached salmon recipe, from Food and Wine magazine, was spot-on in its recommendation of a pairing with an Oregon Pinot Gris, except that we used the darker-tinted Pinot Noir

Virtual tasting #20 started off on a high gear with the Reserve Pinot Gris, only to have it overshadowed by this stunner. Once people started sniffing all I could hear were Oooh, Aaah… On the nose the group noted aromas of licorice, forest floor, pepper, white chocolate, cardamom, black cherry, raspberry and rosewater. How’s that for complexity?
The palate was absolutely delicious- I was so excited to drink this wine. Super smooth with silky tannins and gentle acidity- we got flavors of raspberry, black cherry, Rooibos tea but it lost the pepper component. The depth of this wine was beguiling. On our tasting sheet I gave it a near perfect 19/20. Technically speaking, this $35 wine gets 93 points and 5 stars from me. You could cellar some, but why wait? Damn that was good. Might end up on the best-of list.
IWFS Jax: a night of Oregon & Washington (Queens Harbour): A favorite of mine from the tasting. This isn't a complex or overly interesting wine but it's solid and pairs well with food and has a certain elegance in it's own right. Bright and fruity in style (although much more reserved than many of the others). Decent acid. Very drinkable.

Pure, fresh, invigorating and pretty wine. Nice scents of cherries, Thai basil, camphor and tea. Bright acidity and wonderful notes of strawberries, tea, rocks and roses. Finish isn’t long at all, and I’m not sure it’s gonna improve much with age, but I think it could easily hang with some of its Burgundian counterparts in the same price range.
Immediate cherries but somewhat muted. Opened up over 1-2 hours wonderfully. Spice, sour cherry, great minerality, good acidity. Lingered for 1-2 minutes. Excellent wine and will improve with time in the cellar.

Had at CBCC with Laurent Drouhin and a paired dinner tonight.
Immediate nose of cherries and a spiced aromatic. Thinking cinnamon maybe cloves. In mouth the wine is light to medium body with slightly unbalanced acidty bordering on "still youthful" and telling me that this wine can benefit from more bottl age and needing development.
Still very fresh with tannin in check. Sour cherries and once again cinnamon on the finish.

Drank 45 minutes after opening. The color is a medium crimson. The nose has cherries, strawberry, a note of spice. The palate has cherries, a hint of burnt orange, and an edge of spice. The alcohol does get in the way of the flavors. The wine has a light-medium body. The finish is long with an alcohol (14.1%) kick at the back.
Tried this wine in Zalto Pinot Noir and Cashs Grand Cru Pinot Noir glasses. I preferred the Cashs glass. The Zalto is so voluminous it dilutes the delicate aromas. The flavors were much the same in both glasses.

Have seen this producer pop up a few times and a high rating made me have high expectations. Drinks really easy but a little disappointed for $50. If you have one, let it sit for a bit.
Fruit and light, very little finish. Opened up after 30 minutes. Tried it with a lamb bolognese.
Interesting wine, earthy, somewhat balanced, nice fruit, needs to develop a bit, acid is a bit high, a touch of alcohol, a good effort by DDO, drank with rack of lamb, drank easily, will drink again.

Red fruits, oak, vanilla, leather, light pepper. Smooth mouthfeel and light to medium body. Pairs nicely with grilled salmon. Reasonable price point for OR Pinot.

Bad bottle? A total waste of $34, no taste and tart. Not spoiled per se, just lousy.

Bottle definitely corked. Wine had no character of berry or of earthy. Sadly disappointing, as it was for a special occasion. It was purchased October 2020 - perhaps a poor batch of corks?

Nose: cherries, warm spices, clove
Mouthfeel: typical Pinot, medium acidity, low tannins
Taste: sour cherries. Min tobacco or minerality. Still tastes fresh.
Could age nicely

Very nice. Pretty floral and cherry nose. Youthful, full of sweet dark cherries, cinnamon, spice. Silky. Just needs more time to develop some complexity. Check next one in a 2-3 years.

Cranberry, cinnamon, dried leaves, sensual musk. A hint of French vanilla at the back end.
Medium body with medium plus alcohol and medium minus acidity. Fine grit tannins.
This is a sexy wine with wafts of musky goodness. This will be singing in a few years after the tannins mellow out a bit.

Another winner from Domaine Drouhin. The 2017 is not quite as good as the 2015 bit is still delicious. The 2017 has beautiful color and a silky finish. I decanted my wine several hours before tasting it. My dinner guest's were very impressed. Drink now or hold.

Have seen this producer pop up a few times and a high rating made me have high expectations. Drinks really easy but a little disappointed for $50. If you have one, let it sit for a bit.
Fruit and light, very little finish. Opened up after 30 minutes. Tried it with a lamb bolognese.
